Pros
relax, nice people, benefit is good.
Cons
It is not easy to have a promotion
Pros
The benefits are great and the bosses and coworkers are friendly. You get a lot of time off from work as compared to other places to work in Chattanooga.
Cons
The company policies, rules, and procedures are hard to understand and they always change. It is easy to make mistakes which can ultimately cost you your job.
Advice to Senior Management
The company policies, rules, and procedures need to be easier to understand. Benefits summaries can be hard to understand. Change shouldn't be as frequent.
Pros
Localized management- AKA your direct supervisor- is pretty good. Great benefits. The gym on campus is really great- as is the rest of the actual physical workplace.
Cons
Upper management isn't really seen often, if at all. It's hard to advance- lower-end workers that do a good job are thought of as indispensable for their specific job and they don't move up much.
Advice to Senior Management
Upper-level guys: go out and talk to your workers. Seriously. It helps a lot when managers and VPs stroll the floor
Pros
The health care benefits are really good. Onsite gym is good facility.
Cons
No growth in salary and promotions depend only on your relation with higher level management. Company doesn't care about retaining talented people.
Advice to Senior Management
None.
Pros
Great Benefits
Consistent 8-5 hours
Exposure to microcosm of heavily decentralized processes
Cons
Poor balance of lifestyle between family and work
Exposure to microcosm of heavily decntralized processes
Tenure is paramount to education
Advice to Senior Management
Who am i to give advice to management? I have never been management.
Pros
Benefits, pay, covered parking, very compassionate lower level employees
Cons
Too many managers and above being allowed to stretch the idea of "at managers discretion".. the company has become all about the bottom line and not enough about the customer and employees.. they are not realizing they need both to make the money come in.. and they need to treat sick people like human beings not as something to push out of the way as quickly as possible.. I used to be a proud employee of what I thought was a great company but not any more.
Advice to Senior Management
Pay attention to your employees.. take some interest in them... don't treat them as though they are expendable and unnecessary.. do not put "numbers" above your people all the time.. realized that most people under supervisor level are there for the job, not a career, they want to do a good job, take care of their families, and not have to deal with the politics of a corporation.. also, stop making the employees feel as though they are always "under suspicion" and are taking advantage of the company at all times...
Pros
CEO and Plan President are highly skilled, personable and ethical. Benefits are the best I've seen anywhere.
Cons
Departments can be compartmentalized with limited interaction. First and second level managers are typically great at their job, however managers with "issues" are not routinely addressed unless risk management issues arise.
Advice to Senior Management
Upper management and HR should address issues and trends with these managers despite the perceived uniqueness of their skill set.
Pros
Benefit package, Onsite workout, 15 min massage therapy, a company that not only wants to improve their employees health but a community as well!
Cons
a Coke (when you really want one) is $2 is it really worth it? I'll choose a water out of our purified fountain - its Free!
Advice to Senior Management
My Manager is Awesome, but there are times I wish hourly could sometimes work from home with a laptop. A mom of three, wife of 19 years, I wish I could be seen visibly from my family instead of away at work.
Pros
If you're salary it is a very flexible job. Pay is good, not great but there are also bonuses in most areas of the company. Great new campus as well
Cons
It's a big company so if you get a good manager it's a great, great job. HR can be a little difficult to deal with sometimes but other than that it is a good place to work
Advice to Senior Management
make applying for jobs within the company easier to apply for and create more opportunties for people to build a career despite education. I saw a lot of good people get passed over for jobs they should have gotten
Pros
The work is challenging and the benefits are fantastic. There is a lot of opportunity for people who want to grow and learn, with the right supervisor or manager. Found the new campus exciting and really enjoyed the health club, pharmacy and clinic.
Cons
Human resources does nothing to help the employee, they are only present to explain benefits and to support management in whatever they do. Management can punish or promote anyone they choose and HR does nothing to validate credentials, even lie on reviews to justify firings and cutting jobs in order to hand pick employees. The political game is very one sided favoring management.
Advice to Senior Management
Senior management should not simply rubber stamp reviews, promotions, firings and hiring. Bias in these areas negatively affect the whole company and have caused health problems with employees. Senior management did step in and remedy the situation, but only after 44% of one department was either fired, forced to quit, or laid-off in 6 months. Too little, too late.
