Pros
The rewards can be lucrative if you negotiate (i.e. don't just accept what they are willing to give) Can pay fantastic bonuses in times of good cash flow/profits
Cons
To focus on safety is admirable, however it should never be number 1 ahead of customers. People have the right to go home at night safely, granted, however not at the expense of our customers.
Corperate goveranance can and does stymy growth/creativity/response times.
BSL can be 'middle management heavy' , whith a tendency for empire building amongst said middle management, along with a seige/silo mentality.
Advice to Senior Management
Put customers at the top of their 'to do' list. Spend more time with their customers, finding ways to meet their needs. Don't hide behind gate keepers/sales staff.
If its not adding value, get rid of it.
Don't fiddle while Rome burns.
