Pros
Location - right on the subway - very convenient
Some very smart and very dedicated people
Intersting products
Stock options
Food is OK
Cons
Incompetent and uncaring management
High throughput of people
Employees seemingly regareded as expendable or aparently seen as unnecessary cost
Bonus system is impossible to understand and changes
Pay is low compared to similar company's
Never felt valued as individual
Moral is low
Advice to Senior Management
Hand over control to some proffessional managers who can make company work, or get some training in how to managing people effectively - an MBA doesn't make you a good manager of people.
Pros
"location, location, location! :)" (proximity to TTC, GO and hwy)
on-site kitchen
gorges residential neighborhood
no dress code
Cons
Management is sick about competition
too many VPs for the company that size
easily loosing most significant brains
there is no clear remuneration matrix/policy
Advice to Senior Management
be accountable for your words, stick to your promises
don't lie to employees
respect loyalty and seniority
provide written clear remuneration policy
Pros
don't see any
good location - close to subway station, "GO" buses and HWY 401
there are some bright and smart guys in here, but many good people already left
Cons
incompetent management, low compensations, no annual salary review at all, weird and tricky bonus policy, benefit's plan is not worth, no pension plan
Seems like the company does not value its workers
Advice to Senior Management
cut the lies and stop treating workers like idiots. after all, they are the company!
Pros
Interesting work, relatively forward thinking, great coworkers, fairly good opportunity and growth.
Cons
Overly long hours expected without life/work balance, extra effort not recognized always for the first couple years but improves after time and experience inside.
Advice to Senior Management
More recognition of individual contributions and more direction on career path possibilities for employees. Peer reviews should be encouraged to recognize excellence and bring it to management attention.
Pros
Location, industry experience and vision to be leader
Cons
Senior Management mania - watch your back!
Pros
If you like hanging with other male programmer "nerd" types who just want to have a job and fill their time. There are so many other better Tech companies to work for in Toronto guys!
Cons
Employment contracts presented include constrained terms for employees including term restricting any employment or business outside of BlueCat, restrictive non-compete clauses, standard office hours terms included working from 8am to 6pm. Archaic and one-sided - not a contract you should sign without legal advice and negotiations.
Advice to Senior Management
Grow Up and focus on the business and people, not your personal brand and "fame"
