Advice to Senior Management

Pros
Pay is above average
Resort stays
Generous PTO policy
Cons
They pit regions against each other.
New leaders have no respect for long-time employees.
Advice to Senior Management
Take better care of the employees. Laying off people and then bringing in old friends in management positions does not motivate the rank an file. Most understand that layoffs were needed, but bringing in high-priced managers after the old employees were escorted out did not look good.
Pros
The pay scale is one that would make it possible to make excellent money with this company. Unfortunately, the buyers necessary are just not there.
Cons
The economic climate is not one that is beneficial to working in this atmosphere. You are selling a product to people that have no intention of spending that kind of money.
Advice to Senior Management
Be more forthcoming about your real intentions with someone when you hire them. You should tell two new hires they are being hired for management.
Pros
BlueGreen(BXG) has continued to be a solid profitable company in spite of all the economic downturn. As a company BXG is growing their sales and marketing activities all over the US and looking for more people to fill higher positions in the company. BXG is seeking innovative ways to further their market share while collecting and preserving more capital.
Cons
Do to the fast changing market that is timeshare it is very difficult to keep-up with increased job demands on middle management. We are being expected to do more and more and push the envelope further every day. It is also would noting that sales is performance based both in compensation and job security, so if you cant handle intense pressure this is not the position for you.
Advice to Senior Management
Continue to focus on becoming a market leader. Great work on capital preservation concepts. If there was anything I would like to see change it would be a change in focus from the Sr. management from marketing to sales. We currently are still seeing unqualified leads in efforts of marketing to pad their numbers at sales expense.
Pros
Base pay plus commission (on the marketing side), Recognition for hard work, Managers who believed in training, Competent and friendly co-workers, satisfactory benefits, the company's employee use program (stay at one of the resorts for a extremely low price).
Cons
The slow times. Usually for the Hershey PA location in the winter months, business can get very slow and very psychological. Turnover can be seen as high in some departments. There was also something always changing that made sticking to work policies and adapting to them very challenging.
Advice to Senior Management
Please stop looking a site (or district, or region) from a million miles up. Yes, the numbers do not lie, but there is always a reason for some things. Investigate before fingers are pointed.
Pros
When I first started working it seemed like a good company. The employees are great and the members of management seemed like they new what theywere doing.
Cons
The downsides are to many to list. I will do my best. Forget about fair promotions. If you don't kiss ass and are a certian sexual persuasion you'll never get promoted. Some Supervisors, all Managers and above don't know the first thing about the product. I've seen them ask agents to help them. With recent cuts I noticed people who should be let go and wern't and others in both Indianapolis and Boca who shouldn't be let go who were. If I didn't need this job and it wern't so hard to get another one I wouldn't be here.
Advice to Senior Management
Promote people based on they're abilities not by what sex they are. Listen to the employees who deal with the members on a daily basis.
Pros
Bluegreen Corporation is a great company to work for. The corporate office has a fun and friendly atmosphere . The people are great to work with. Benefits are great. The facilities (cafeteria, parking) and neighborhood are great, too.
I have grown an incredible amount because of my experiences at Bluegreen. I had the opportunity to learn a lot. Classes and seminars (both external and internal) are greatly encouraged. My former managers were mentors and took the time to help me learn and grow.
Cons
As with every company, experiences vary widely depending on the office you work out of, and, most importantly, your direct supervisors and management. Some departments in the corporate office have very difficult managers. Some departments are going through changes. If your manager or supervisor doesn't take the time to know you and hear you and respect you, your job will be challenging.
Advice to Senior Management
Best advice for Senior Management is to evaluate all supervisors and managers. Treating their employees with respect is the most valuable quality they can have. They should make the extra effort to reach out to employees, one on one (regardless of how busy they are), and be genuinely interested in them professionally. They should foster a true team atmosphere, where employees can build each other up, even if members of a department work on very different things. They should reach out to their employees so the employees can feel comfortable voicing their opinions, and know they are treated respectfully. Develop your leaders, and you will develop your employees.
Pros
The best reason to work at Bluegreen is the fun and lively atmosphere and the high income potential. Many of the employees and managers really know how to have a good, fun time at work and play. Bluegreen offers an very generous bonus program. The highest I've made in one month was $15,000.
Cons
Management frowns on taking time off and management sometimes plays favorites and does not treat all employees fairly. Working for Bluegreen, like other vacation clubs, requires flexibility because the pay can be up and down. Bluegreen also needs to be more consistent and timely about paying it's employees.
Advice to Senior Management
Watch middle managers to ensure that they are treating all employees fairly.
Pros
It's a nice atmosphere to work in.
Cons
The way the employers get treated.
Advice to Senior Management
Just to do a better job.
