    Good place to work if it didnt go out of business

    Cons

    Lack of organization from the district up managers. No consistent communication

    Pros

    Relaxed work place but also fun to interact with customers. If you like being around marine products, the stores are very interesting places to be.

    Cons

    Limited growth opportunities unless you become store manager or move to headquarters. Hours can be difficult as there are clear high and low seasons.

    Advice to Management

    Communicate more with company employees. They will work hard but also need to have direction. Opportunities for continuing product education would be nice.

    Pros

    Modern Stores, up to date products, chance for advancement, flexible schedule, good product training by experts in the industry, employee discount.

    Cons

    Dealing with a clientele that wants a discount above that already offered. The starting wage for an associate is well below the industry standard

    Employee Discount. This is probably the only reason to work there. Flexible Schedule. Co workers can be fun to hang out with.

    Cons

    The company only cared about selling extended warranties and membership cards. you could never get popular products in because everyone in upper management was clueless.

    Advice to Management

    the company went bankrupt because of poor management. they never wanted to hear what store level employees had to say. serves them right.

    good service, great customer service, friendly staff.

    Cons

    disorganized, long hours, rota never on time.

    Need more PR, staff appreciation, better management , rota schedule and staff friendly.

    Work with great people. Associates and most customers. Great benefits. Lots of contests and prizes.
    Always the ability to learn about the newest boating products.

    Cons

    Retail wages, Incredible amount of travel. The company wad driven by buyers. Not customers needs.

    Advice to Management

    Your people in the field know a lot more than you give them credit for.

    The work environment and the people you work with.

    Cons

    The manner in which the company was ran. It was impossible to take initiative to satisfy customers. BW employees tried to go the extra mile and only had to fight upper management and time constraints to do so,

    Listen to the people who actually deal with the customers.

    Pros

    This job allowed for detailed as well as "big picture" decision making. Boater's World was a good company to work for, decent pay and good benefits.

    Cons

    There were not too many downsides to the company. At times it felt we were behind the curve as far as technology went but all-n-all no complaints.

    Advice to Management

    Any advice I could give the would be a moot point by now. The company is out of business. If I had to do it over again I would push for more big sales that are easier for the public to understand and easier for store associates to facilitate.
