I have been working at Bob Evans part-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Being a server at Bob's is sometimes stressful. However, for the pay you cannot beat it. I served at higher end restaurants and prefer Bobs. Every tip you make is your own. No tip sharing. No tipping out. Always an opportunity to pick up as many extra shifts as you want. Works around your schedule.

    Cons

it is easy to get a job as a server there so many times they hire bad people. They normally don't last long anyways once management figures out they are terrible. Turnover is high. But the good ones usually stick around.

I have been working at Bob Evans part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Camaraderie, opportunity for steady income/tables. BE is so massive name marketing and name recognition alone will draw customers. So, there is a steady influx. For the most part most BEs stay busy. Managers try to do the best they can for employees, but also remain within the tight restrictions placed on them by their corporate bosses.

    Cons

For the most part, corporate decisions seem to sacrifice the customer and/or the employee to favor quick, easy profits. For example (1): A computer now (for the most part) decides your schedule, and hours are disseminated at the whim of a machine. Therefore there is no consistency in scheduling your workweek. You won’t get the same days off week after week, unless you specifically reserve them off, potentially upsetting your boss. So the computer is able to mange labor costs, but at the expense of the employees. For example (2): BE no longer employs bussers; servers are expected to buss their own tables. So, BE is able to lower labor cost, but at the expense of the customer, who now has to look at tables filled with dirty plates, and the employees, who now have to work much harder. Just a couple examples; there are many others.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop worrying about your share price; start worrying about your diminishing customer base.

    Pros

Coworkers were always nice. Average pay, but that's to be expected at a place like this.

    Cons

My managers were very demanding and very harsh. Asked to much of you.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Pros

This was a good company to learn and acquire skills from. It constantly a challenging environment and you have the opportunity to grow.

    Cons

Communication throughout the company was lacking. From my understanding, the pay is below industry standard for corporate positions. There is a lack of trust in leadership.

I have been working at Bob Evans part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

You make a lot of good friends there based on your personality and how you relate with others. it builds character and teaches you about how well you do under pressure. you get to work with others and build confidence.

    Cons

the managers don't care about you or your personal life, you are scheduled massive hours and when you try to cut back they give you crap. If you're applying to be a cook, don't. you will have no life and if you don't do well under pressure this isn't a job for you. The pay is okay, when you start off they claim to give you a raise every 3 months but that isn't always true.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't treat the workers like they don't contribute to the store, without them you wouldn't have a store. Let them know they are appreciated.
