I have been working at Bob Evans part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

The people you work with are amazing so friendly and make you feel like family. Very helpful when you need a hand. Uniform is pretty casual and comfortable. Majority of the food is good.

    Cons

Managers need some training, things you learn working there is disgusting an makes you never want to eat out again. Watching all the things that happens in back is just unsettling.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I think some of the stores preferably Irwin pa's Bob Evans needs new managers or they need taught about food service and what is healthy and not healthy example.. Don't just cut moldy spots off of vegetables and continue to serve them to customers and don't change the dates on expired foods when the inspector comes around.

I have been working at Bob Evans

    Pros

Most of the employees are friendly, and the customers are awesome!

    Cons

They over work you, They tell you 50 hrs per week, but it's closer to 60 or 70. And for the industry the pay is really low. It's sad when fast food companies pay more for their managers than a sit down restaurant.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't keep your managers longer than their shift, and try real hard not to call them in on their day off.

High stress with low pay and little or no raises

I worked at Bob Evans full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Most of the people at the corporate office are a great bunch of people to work with. The new office is fabulous and very convenient location.

    Cons

Leadership is lacking. Several key personnel have left the company along with many members of finance and accounting. Work is extremely stressful, little to no recognition, long hours, and little or no annual raise. Talk of a headcount reduction increases the stress.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be open with your employees and be more appreciative. Employees are leaving because of the way they are treated.

I have been working at Bob Evans part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

You learn how to give excellent customer service, how to work in a team, food safety...

    Cons

Management is awful. They can never agree on anything, and talk to the employees like we're trash. Not worth the stress and abuse.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Maybe consider training your management to work more cohesively and be less abusive to employees.

    Pros

    Great coworkers
    Good management
Work great together as a team

    Cons

Bad tips when serving because dine in bills are not big
    Constant changing of menus
Menu is way to big, needs to be narrowed down
    Small hourly wages

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Less menu changes, cut down options in menus. Make more clear ways for hourly associates to raise their hourly pay.

I have been working at Bob Evans full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Has 12 week training program. Was given sufficient time each day for studying and computer time. No late night hours.

    Cons

Training program is not executed correctly. It requires daily 1 on 1 time with GM. Most of the time this does not take place. Schedule requires that all managers work every Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make sure training is executed 100%, in a certified training restaurant. Training GM needs to have additional time daily to spend 1 on 1 time with trainees.
