I have been working at Bodine Aluminum full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    Pay
    Benefits
Very fast upward mobility for the dedicated and hard working.
Good people to work with and for.
Lots of outside of work activities and functions for family.

    Cons

Can be very hot (improvement's on this are being made every year).
You will smell like burning wires if you work on a casting line.
Some positions can be very repetitive.
Potential for severe amounts of over time.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Reduce Dojo training time and add a permanent trainer for each line. In doing so new TM's will have more line side specific training.

    Hot Manufacturing Environment

I worked at Bodine Aluminum as a contractor (less than a year)

    Pros

I worked on the shop floor. There were a lot of opportunities to learn different jobs. You are exposed to a lot high tech equipment to turn raw product into a finished part. Overall good group of people to work with.

    Cons

The environment that you work in is tough. It can be extremely hot and noisy. Some production jobs can be very repetitive. Your clothes, vehicle, hair, and body will smell of the product in the plant.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Develop a structured training program for new hires. Consider the integration of on the job training with lean manufacturing principles.

    Pros

Team members here are very friendly

    Cons

If you don't go to lunch with the bosses, you won't get ahead at this place no matter how well you do.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The managers need to know the jobs of their direct reports. It's easy to nitpick, it's hard to do.
