I worked at Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals as an intern

    Pros

Good place to start off a career in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry. Get a lot of hands on experience.

    Cons

Very small team and therefore, a lot of work for 1 intern. So many projects to work on.

    Advice to Management

I suggest making the interns work on 1 project instead of so many smaller projects and 1 big project.

    Pros

Company values and the people. Leadership is very supportive of its people and looks for ways to ensure success for them and the many initiatives that are in the pipeline.

    Cons

Maturity of methodology and practices to govern key strategic programs. This is an area where industrialization would be extremely helpful to minimize the amount of rework that can occur.

    Pros

In my Development Dept, I had good, fair management. The salaries were good and the benefits were great. Plenty of time off, work/life balance, and challenging work.

    Cons

I recently got laid off because I was too expensive, had been there many years, and didn't fit in with the new development structure. Many in the same situation were let go recently too. Boehringer seemed slow to the realities that biologics is/was the future.

    Advice to Management

Realistically, I feel that all development could be shifted back to Germany. I feel for my remaining colleagues because the current transition will be very demanding on them and eventually they too may lose their jobs. Treat these folks well.
