    Pros

The work environment was relaxed while still remaining professional. Everyone was super friendly within the QC building! The pay was more than expected and my leaders were nothing but helpful and understanding. Really learned a lot at the company as an intern.

    Cons

The amount of training depends on self-motivation. If you don't strive to learn more and more each day, you will not accomplish much as an intern. Must ask questions, ask to watch certain procedures, and ask to be more hands on.

  2. Average company. Nothing special really. Management cares little about employees. They are consolidating, so jobs in places other than Connecticut or Germany are precarious.

    Pros

Executive Management always seemed good and forward thinking. I got to work with many really good people in many different departments.

    Cons

Middle management is awful. Raises and bonuses are very low or none at all. You are at the mercy of your manager. If there is a dispute between management and employee, the employee will always lose.

    Advice to Management

Listen to employees more and middle management less.

    Pros

Pay is great, benefits are good, work is personally rewarding knowing that our products prevent animal diseases and death.

    Cons

Often understaffed so work can be stressful at times. Production schedule changes at the drop of a hat so flexibility is key.
Lack communication between shifts and department's.

    Advice to Management

Need more people in management with working experience of the company.

    Pros

Pay is great for the area. Job is not that overbearing. Able to learn essential skills that are necessary to do the job well.

    Cons

Very boring work, cubicle atmosphere, must be a bookworm and focused on task at all times unless given permission to do so. Policies for employees or temporaries are not put out up front, and if you are a temp, they can hire you one day and drop you at a moments notice. Beware. I think about 75% of those they hire starting off are temp, some for more than 5 years before getting offered employment. Very flexible scheduling.

    Advice to Management

Lay out clear guidelines and employee expectations. Work cannot be only about the reaching business goals. People matter too.

    Pros

There is not much of a problem to get what you need to do your work well. Excellent facilities and equipment and people pitch in and help each other. The work load is generally very balanced. Not much back-stabbing to be noticed, but some people can "try too hard" to get noticed. The town has a very low cost of living and is close to K.C. Overall there is a good, conservative mental attitude. Pay is industry competitive, bonuses have been good. PTO is scaled by your experience and educational level. BIVI is a great place to work in St. Joseph and is a respected employer.

    Cons

Communication between sites/units needs to be improved and more open and energetic A better defined training program needs to be developed to avoid the trial and error process and make more efficient use of legacy knowledge. People could be held more accountable when they are slow to deliver or fail to communicate with fellow team members. Some people can tend to have a negative attitude, but only because they don't know how good they actually have it compared to the alternatives.

    Advice to Management

Possibly try to foster a better sense of collaboration and cameraderie among groups by rewarding people who go above and beyond their job description and written goals. There isn't much socialization among people outside the workplace, compared to other places.

    Cons

As a temporary employee, you are basically underpaid and also get no benefits. Basically, cheap labor.

    Advice to Management

Reduce the number of temporary employees, it shows you don't value your employees.
