Current Employee – been working at Boeing
Pros – Ethical, good benefits, committed to training, large enough to offer upward mobility, well-respected
Cons – Very aircraft-centric, so difficult if you are in another part of the business. Too process oriented; one size does not fit all. Lots of changes in the markets right now, so the organization is seeking to redefine itself.
Advice to Senior Management – Communicate, communicate, communicate. Talk to your people and let them know what needs to be done. Get their ideas too.

Current Employee – been working at Boeing full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – Job security is a premium here. Large corporation where loyalty is highly valued even to the point of being more important than productivity or talent.
Cons – Lack of strategy implementation creates environment of "all talk, no walk." Generates frustration with employees who feel management does not genuinely listen. Because of this, employees will cautiously work or end up leaving.
Advice to Senior Management – Put employee engagement at top of mind. Employees are treated like interchangeable parts.

Former Employee – worked at Boeing
Pros – The benefits, several locations for relocation.
Cons – Heavy layers of bureaucracy. People will not speak up for fear of losing their jobs. So many do not want to rock the boat.
Advice to Senior Management – Look beyond the job description on paper and recognize the individual talents.

Current Employee – been working at Boeing
Pros – company still respected, still getting good contracts, still selling airplanes, and whenever the 787 starts rolling out revenue will start coming in again and management might loosen up a little.
Cons – too much emphasis on lean and bottom line, and Boeing has lost its concern for the employees. They print tons of pamphlets telling managers to care about people, but don't back it up with policy.
Advice to Senior Management – Stop telling young people there are opportunities for them to grow here, when IT is not growing, it is spiralling downward. Save the mid-level positions. You have programs for new young people and senior people, then cut training and learning together for mid level people to grow.

Current Employee – been working at Boeing
Pros – Generally a good place to work. Management is usually on top of changing trends in the Defense industry and trys to plan accordingly.
Cons – Nepotism is alive and well in some areas of the Defense organization. Young managers that move too quickly to the top without spending time to learn the skills necessary to manage projects or people.
Advice to Senior Management – Pay more attention to the people management skills. It is one thing to preach the party line about taking care of people, but quite another to actually demonstrate it.

Current Employee – been working at Boeing
Pros – Great place to work - great products and customers - good suppliers and over all benefits package - opportunities to advance are there if the effort put forth - it may take a little longer in aerospace industry
Cons – some managers theory x - poor job of promoting good leaders - diversity challenge forcing the promoting of non qualified managers - challenge with information system connectivity.
Advice to Senior Management – stick to the Boeing values and leadership attributes - it is the right approach and the right way to lead into the future - i think it would be worthwhile to focus on who is put into leadership positions - I have worked for some really great or soon to be great leaders - but at the same time i have worked with or for some really poor leaders who really have no business being in charge of people - also I would suggest a continued focus on information system connectivity ... it is important that the information system connect to allow less man power ... Finally, I see labor issues negatively affecting the companies performance and ability to compete effectively in the future - labor unions once served a good purpose but they - in my view - have gone way beyond and have gone over the top with their demands on the compnay

Former Employee – worked at Boeing
Pros – The pay is exceptionally good!
Cons – The company has ethics problems. You've read about the big problemsin the newspapers and they've been reported in the news , but there are also those you never hear about that involve theri poor treatment of their employees. Boeing professes it practices open and honest communications and there's no retaliation when you try to practice this as well, but beware, they don't walk the talk!
The good old boys network causes talented women to eventually leave out of frustration or worse, be terminated due to convenient reorganizations.
Advice to Senior Management – Come into the 21st century and start to build a company that engages women as opposed to tolerating them. Practice what you preach, just don't give lip service about what you think ethical behavior means.
