Pros
the benefits exceed industry standard. management is pushing innovation
Cons
Company is very large and too much overlap in some areas and gaps in other areas
Pros
Communication within the company was well establish. I knew what was expected of me and my goals and my department goals.
Cons
There was too many meetings. I felt like my entire day was filled up with meetings. Sometime I needed to come in to work early in order to get some work done before the meetings started.
Pros
A relatively stable company where the job can't easily be off-shored to India. The job can range from very exciting and fulfilling to mundane paper-work depending on where in a design stage or sustainability stage the program is. The pay is industry average but with the benefit package it becomes pretty great.
Cons
The vacation package is horrible. leadership does not have efficient foresight of future business needs. the work-force is aging rapidly and the tribal knowledge and core competencies are going out the door when they retire. no effective method of training and skill improvement.
Advice to Senior Management
If you want top-notch skills then do not expect to get them at industry average wages. Provide clear goals, plan ahead so the work balance is not so erratic and driven by customer pull. Work to better maintain core knowledge and skills in-house. stop relying on vendors, suppliers, and contractors so heavily as have done in 787 program.
Pros
Great benefits package. Fair place to work with supportive work environment.
Cons
Work life balance is talked about a lot... but not taken as seriously as it could. 500+ hours of OT a year wears on ya.
Advice to Senior Management
Management should lead more and manage less. People skills from many Boeing Managers is lacking.
Pros
Good , energizing , official, growth, incredible
Cons
politics, cut-throat, management specific, salaries, tough professional environment
Advice to Senior Management
nothing
Pros
Best benefits. Awesome pay. You can do anything here.
Cons
First line managers get very little support. Ridiculous Ethics complaints are filed anonymously.
Advice to Senior Management
Keep your eye on the ball.
Pros
The company provides very good benefits and good compensation, I am involved on very interesting projects. encourage training and continue education.
Cons
Difficult to get promoted in the Socal aera due to the aerospace meltdown in California. Not too many oppertunities are offered unless you are willing to relocate
Advice to Senior Management
Difficult to get promoted in the Socal aera due to the aerospace meltdown in California. Not too many oppertunities are offered unless you are willing to relocate
Pros
Very knowledgeable and intelligent engineers work here. We are dedicated to creating the best product we can. We also ride in airplanes and so do our families.
Cons
Management leadership is very lacking. In addition, the speed at which work needs to happen within Boeing seems fast, but the speed at which you ask management to do something for you, can take months and even years.
Advice to Senior Management
Be more respectful of your employees and try to dedicate more time knowing what your employees are working on, as opposed to scheduling silly status meetings.
Pros
Good pay & benefits for hourly workforce.
Cons
Women beware!!! Watched way to many over 20yrs get beat down & moved out by good ole boy network which THRIVES on retribution if you dare speak out. Or worse if you have a brain. There are no protections in place for salary & HR only backs up managers. They will move around & keep people w/o talent & scheme to get rid of others with too much that they fear will overtake them. Continue making same mistakes/decisions expecting different outcomes! NOT female or minority friendly in salary ranks.
Advice to Senior Management
ADR process doesnt work & managers have learned the trick of how to dispose of someone based solely on their word & w/o question. They Issue perf CAM. Employee can't get adr case heard in timely manner or at all so the cam's stay in file whether they were deserved or not. Get's the manager the evidence needed for RIF approval. Employee is out. Which now prevents that same employee from ever coming back to company due to new security check/screening process. All based on the word of one person. No check or balance! CAM's should never be so punitive anyway! Meant to be a tool to improve behaviors-- but not utilised in that vein anymore.
And the good ole boy retribution process is alive and well and constantly reinforced thru supporting these managers.
Pros
Very interesting work, ability to move between business units.
Cons
Very poor middle management. Don't demonstrate an ability to plan in adverse conditions.
Advice to Senior Management
Listen more to line managers and employees.
