Poor management team with little apparent vision.

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

I worked at Boingo full-time for more than 3 years

ProsPay is decent, and there are little perks.

ConsFor a small company, executive management is surprisingly insulated from the staff. Closed door decision making and a dislike for anyone who questions decisions. At the very top, folks who deliver bad news are not liked so bad news gets hidden. Mistakes are repeated because optimism is valued much more than realism. Don't see a good future for this firm.

Advice to Senior ManagementStart with a fresh senior team before it's too late.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Poor company culture.

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)
Westwood, CA

I worked at Boingo full-time for more than a year

ProsGreat HR staff, frequent employee lunches and events, great benefits.

ConsThe executive management team is disorganized and lack leadership. They pretend to get along, but it's pretty obvious most of them don't like each other and have conflicting agendas. Additionally, the company lacks a clear vision which results in debilitated attitudes and motivation throughout the organization.

Advice to Senior ManagementIf you can't get along and work well from the top, that's going to trickle down to the rest of the company.

What was once a promising, fun startup is now a mediocre company offering no (career) growth.

I worked at Boingo full-time for more than 5 years

ProsThere were lots of opportunities to travel the globe despite the small size of the company.

ConsThe executive management team takes care of favorites/senior managers only; absolutely no chance of career advancement based on merit.

Advice to Senior ManagementTake stock of the high-profile departures in the last two years.

Good people, Tech was only moderately interesting to work on

Senior Systems Engineer (Former Employee)
Los Angeles, CA

I worked at Boingo full-time for more than 3 years

ProsSmaller company with good people, not many layers of management and a casual atmosphere. People were willing to listen to ideas and there was opportunity for discussion (except for the con below).

ConsCommunication could have been better and some decisions were made by other departments or by the CTO behind closed doors. This was a few years back now so things might have changed.
