    Good engineering intern experience

    Capital Engineering Intern (Former Employee)
    International Falls, MN

ProsAn internship here let's you work with experienced professionals that are willing to help and teach interns in an environment that provides great opportunities to learn and grow in your field. The wage for this internship is exceptional as well. And the cost of living in International Falls is pretty low.

ConsThere might not always be enough work to fill up a work week and as with anywhere else, there might be other employees that get on your nerves.

Boise Cascade/OfficeMax was the best company I have ever worked for.

    Administrative Specialist/Marketing Coordinator (Former Employee)
    Garden Grove, CA

ProsWorking at Boise Cascade/OfficeMax was a positive experience. They care for their employees. They made coming to work fun. There were opportunities to cross train and grow. I actually did not cringe when Monday came around because I liked working there. All my co-workers were like a second family. I truly miss working there, but will always remember it fondly.

ConsIt could be slow climbing the ladder there, but they still gave you the opportunity to learn other positions so when the time was right you could move up.

Advice to Senior ManagementI would just say to continue to do the great work that they have been doing all these years. I had quite a few managers there and loved them all.

    Boise? meh.

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
    Boise, ID

ProsBoise seems to pay very well for the positions offered in the Boise valley.

ConsThe debt load of the company has really led to low employee morale. Right now, this is the place dreams go to die.

Advice to Senior ManagementYou are only seen as a good manager by the quality of people working for you. Don't take it personally.

Boise Inc needs to perform now!

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
    Vancouver, WA

ProsThis is an organziation that is desperate for current performance. As a result, if you can reduce costs or bring in significant volume today...emphasis on today...you'll be a star.

ConsThe short term view and financial health of the company due to the deal done by the former private equity companies

Advice to Senior ManagementThey are doing the logical thing for the shareholders. We have to perform financially today before we get going. That being said, don't dismiss the feedback we recieve from customers, employees or vendors. You will loose key people if the environment doesn't change soon.

    Stable, except for the sector

    Administrative Manager (Current Employee)

ProsI tell new employees that you won't drive a Lamborghini at Boise Cascade, but your paycheck will never bounce. Many people work here for 20+ years -- there's a reason for that. Little politics, consistent expectations for job functions/duties.

ConsRaises and bonuses bump up and down depending on the housing market.

    – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

Good place to work and maybe even better if construction would pick up.

    Account Manager (Former Employee)

ProsGood benefit package, flexible time off, competitive salary,

ConsNot as customer focused as they should be considering the downturn in housing and construction starts.
Employees focused on their own success.

Advice to Senior ManagementGet more in touch with what is happening at your customers locations.
