Pros
The pay is good and the people are friendly to work with. This company will make sure you have the tools succeed and the environment to thrive professionally.
Cons
Outsourcing has been the major downfall of this industry with layoffs of many people in their later years of their careers. Future projections are shaky due to the unpredictable enconomy.
Advice to Senior Management
The methodology of downsizing should be reviewed to ensure that experience is retained in critical areas.
Pros
Company is in an interesting period as it attempt to enter a larger seat category that competes with both Boeing and Airbus. Aviation is both intellectually challenging and an extremely interesting industry.
Cons
lack of talent within Sr. leadership of Commercial aircraft. The organization has very little turnover, which leaves employees without much room to progress their careers. New bonus structure does not create enough of an incentive to motivate employees.
Advice to Senior Management
Create a bonus structure that give all employees who are part of the sales process a real incentive to go above and beyond to close out deals.
Pros
Financialy strong company with solid management team. Laurant did a great job bringing his son along. Pierre has become a competent executive, very bright and he is willing to fly on his own ability and not hide behind his family or father!
Cons
They made a mistake by moving all there senior exec. out. Company has a lot of untested managers who are not ready to stand up and deliver!
Advice to Senior Management
They need to bring some senior people back in play as they are the ones who can pull things together if given a chance.
Pros
The company have a good environment
Cons
Need to be more organized
Advice to Senior Management
The management needs to be more clear about what they want
Pros

Advice to Senior Management

Cons
Lack of technical activities and too tight schedules.
Advice to Senior Management
Look over competition and understand what needs to be done to make the project succesful.
Pros
opportunity to be in Montreal
Cons
I was impressed with the disorder at Bombardier
lack of technical knowledge
Advice to Senior Management
focus on trainning
Pros
-Big Company, so you know it's not disappearing tomorrow
- good benefits (though bad salary)
- You know you are working on a cool product (private jets)
Cons
Management Does Not care!
-They ask you to do things to waste your time,
-huge bureaucracy,
-keep on having the same problems, with no will to fix them
-Sales driven organization where you have to suck up and do stupid things to appease little fiefdoms of power
- tons of contradictions
- lack of basic resources and even moderately new technology
Advice to Senior Management
Start actually empowering your employees and let them make decisions.
Promote on merit
- Hire competent people and pay them well
- Change the commission structure
- Show people respect for their intellect - you are not fooling us with speeches full of hot air, when no concrete measures are in place to improve efficiency.
Pros
I work at one of the smaller divisions of Bombardier. It provides a good position to get lots of different experience with the business.
Cons
Bombardier strategy for designing a new airplane or developing a large avionics change to an existing airplane is to partner with a vendor. Partner does most of design work. Company is very focused on cost and schedule. Engineering seems to be something to be outsourced.
Advice to Senior Management
Please reconsider strategy to outsource everything possible.
Pros
Professional Atmosphere, Understanding Management , Professional Advancement Opportunities , Training , Benchmarking, Consultants support
Cons
Staff reduction in time of recession , Unionized labour can be problematic at times , More innovation and modern equipment could be used.
Advice to Senior Management
Encourage Collective Bargaining +, Enhance Team building Culture + More trust and transparency + Innovative Ways to be tough with trouble makers
