I worked at Bombardier Aerospace full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

There are a lot of opportunities at Bombardier Aerospace if you lookout for them. I ended up in the IT department and it was big enough to even move within it. Its big size allows to make many friends and contacts.

    Cons

Some projects are very heavy: in particular when submitting them at first to get approval. Aerospace has its ups and down: get ready to go through both hiring and downsizing periods.

    I worked at Bombardier Aerospace

    Pros

you have a very interesting job. Very stimulated, and rarely get bored. good time of policies 3 weeks plus 2 at x-mas.

    Cons

long hours, required to work out of office. Don't plan a future working for this company. Layoffs happen left right and centre!
    No job stability.
Little job training, it's more of a learn as you go experience.
Everyone's worn so thin that they can't help you. Everyone working there does the job of two people, at least.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

be weary of negative ninnies. I feel there needs to be more positive people working for bombardier to help boost moral. the job insecurity, overwork, etc... has the place feeling like a funeral home.

    Cons

Big company, and a lot of employees. We're all just numbers, and that makes the job very unstable

    Pros

    -They give responsibility for intern
    -They encourage initiatives

    Cons

-Most of workers are overloaded with work
-IT help is too slow, i only got my outlook and computer access after 2 weeks

I worked at Bombardier Aerospace as an intern (less than a year)

    Pros

The industry is very interesting and you are given high autonomy to perform your functions. The work pace is fast with and challenging. You manage your time and you are expected to deliver results as you progress in your mandate. You are asked to support other projects which give you more exposure and a better understanding of the industry.

    Cons

A lot of bureaucracy and control mechanisms interrelated with its matrix structure. In addition goals and priorities change on regular basis lowering your productivity. Many meeting which make it difficult to focus on your tasks.

I worked at Bombardier Aerospace as a contractor (more than a year)

    Pros

    - Working on amazing and beautiful aircrafts
    - Lots of employees are proud to work here
    - Great benefits
    - Pay is good but not as good as other big aerospace companies in Montreal
    - Good work-life balance, family friendly company

    Cons

    - Company is in bad shape
    - Outsourcing is out of control, the company is losing its culture and roots
    - Very little communication between different departments and teams
    - Slow to adapt, not agile, quite a few under performing employees
    - Doesn't really care about its employees, bare minimum training, not a great growth environnement

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop slashing training budgets, invest in your employees, they are your greatest asset. A lot of your employees are proud to work for you, but they don't really care about their job, they don't feel like they're part of the team any more.

I worked at Bombardier Aerospace full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

A good communication system in place, competitive salary and benefits. A good time investment in training and people development.

    Cons

High rate of management rotation, not enough time to know each other, despite all efforts to remove silos, still a huge problem, lack of clear direction.

I worked at Bombardier Aerospace (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Great pay, benefits, focus of personal development (however this depends greatly on where you are in the company). I had a great experience in one division (amazing boss and nice work culture) and a terrible experience in another (inexperienced and frantic management style).

    Cons

Constant layoffs, constant changes in managements, lack of functioning between business units. Working in different divisions is like working in different companies. Lots of bureaucracy but not sure if that's just because this is a large company. Got laid off after 6 years with the company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Must have a respect for personal time of the employee. People with Blackberries are expected to be reachable and responsive at all times which is unreasonable in my opinion.

I worked at Bombardier Aerospace full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

The salary for the responsibility given was more then adequate
The coaching provided was immaculate leaving more then enough room to grow
The separation benefit offered was generous and considerate for the period worked

    Cons

The only down side i can think off is the ending off the position I held
May be the fact that it happened quite quickly, and the policy in place with many large companies, that you have to leave at that moment seems to be robbing people of there dignity
