Pros
Salary, support for education, flexi hours
Cons
no growth, no recognition of work done, others take credit for work you did.
Advice to Senior Management
put controls to make sure middle management is competent.
Pros
- Level of stress is low;
- Balance with personal life is good;
- Good accessibility and sharing of information;
- Good professional contact.
Cons
- Salary is not equivalent to the level of experience (around 15% less in total salary);
- Growth on the rank are done however with no salary changes;
- Takes to much time to have a raisenable salary increase. Depends on availability of missing higher engineering level;
- Benefits could be better.
Pros
Compensation is decent. There's a tremendous pride working for Bombardier, and everyone seems to recognize it as being a decent company.
Cons
Management does not care about you; complete apathy. HR is completely disconnected from reality. What's a standard for one team is not a standard for another. No communication outside of what's released to the press. Yearly performance reviews that have no bearing on your career. Poor performers are rewarded with the same bonuses as exceptional employees. Every department functions as a silo.
Pros
Flexibility, work / life balance, ability to move and grow within the company. The ability to work with high net worth indiviuals and companies.
Cons
Senior management's lack of willingness to address those employees who are not performing to the level expected. Employee engagement is suffering because of this.
Advice to Senior Management
Take the necessary actions required to deal with under performers. Treat your good customer as well if not better than we do with our bad customers.
Pros
- starting salary (as a recent graduate) is better compared to other companies
- benefits are OK
- nice and sympathetic people
Cons
- raises are very poor
- people specialize too much
- too much time spent on non related to work tasks
- integration prevails on technical work (which is the real work)
- company is so big that work is divided into to many specialized tasks
- no plan for orthodontic
- the offices are not set in a convenient location (Mirabel, Dorval, Ville St-Laurent)
- food sold at the cafeteria is very unsatisfactory
Advice to Senior Management
The real work is being done by partners. Bombardier decided to give the work to other companies that, most of the time, are located outside Canada. This is no good for Canada's economy. Also, this is to be considered as a knowledge leak. I don't this is good in the long term...
Pros
The company encourages employees to look for internal opportunities for development and growth, no matter in which division. The products are great and it's a very stable company
Cons
As every large company, it's very slow to react to the market and it is a late adopter of IT technologies and HR policies.
Pros
you get to be near and fly in premium jets, Globals and challengers are cool.
lots of free food
benefits are fairly good
good work-life balance in that you can take time off for emergencies or personal issues without it being a problem.
free parking
cheap cafeteria
some staff are really nice
deal with some of the best attorney's representing clients, so you learn a lot from them.
Cons
management makes all the decisions, your role is to execute only.
Top-heavy, roughly 1 manager for every 2 employees. The vp hires mostly his incompetent friends in fluff jobs. Most work is done by a few competent key staff, who are pushed to burn-out.
Quarter ends are the worst period. you work long hours to meet last minute deals on the whim of management and their numbers, or sales people. No bonus or overtime.
Sales people who you partially support make good money and treat you like garbage, even though you negotiate the final deals for them. Half the time they ignore your calls.
Work is repetitive and mostly paper pushing as you cannot make decisions.
lots of wasted time in meetings.
VP doesn't care about lower-level staff, tried to avoid staff events, staff problems, and even the christmas party.
salaries are targeted by hr to be at most equal to the middle of thier comparison companies. Result is very poor pay outside the benefits. At the same time the company has no problems throwing out millions per customer in freebies to get cash a little earlier.
lack of basic technology tools
no private rooms (conference) or offices to do your negotiations. Many times surrounding staff ignores you are talking to close a deal, and can be heard on your phone line.
incompetent staff gets promotions depending on their "extra-curricular" activities.
group bonus so individual efforts don't matter.
Advice to Senior Management
get rid of most management and hire competent people. Pay people fairly for their work as your staff is a big part of your public face.
Pros
- Possibility to see the world
- Possibility of advancement if you are in the right area
- Exciting industry from a sales perspective
Cons
- Too big
- Lack of overall corporate direction
- Too many inexperienced and unqualified supervisors at many levels
- Failure to provide real training to expand one's knowledge base (online training courses, etc...)
Advice to Senior Management
Too often, we your customer facing employees are left to our own devices without little to no support from our higher ups. The most we hear from management is a chastising when something goes wrong. If you want your people to perform better show them that you have their backs!
Pros
Pros
- Big Company, so you know it's not disappearing tomorrow
- You know you are working on a cool product (private jets)
Cons
Cons
Management Does Not care!
-They ask you to do things to waste your time,
- huge bureaucracy,
- keep on having the same problems, with no will to fix them
- Sales driven organization where you have to suck up and do stupid things to appease little islands of power.
- tons of contradictions
- lack of technical methodologies and basic resources for doing decent engineering work.
Advice to Senior Management
Advice to Senior Management
Start actually empowering your employees and let them make decisions.
- Hire competent people and pay them well
- Show people respect for their intellect - you are not fooling us with speeches full of hot air, when no concrete measures are in place to improve efficiency.
Pros
Good benefits, congenial working environment
Cons
Limited advancement opportunities at Aerospace level
Advice to Senior Management
Communication is key
