ProsInteresting experience, I've learned a lot during my job. Good salary, great benefits. Vacation time and sick time are to be appreciated.

ConsOvertime not allowed anymore, not always a stable job, your are not allowed to say what you think in too many occasions.

Advice to Senior ManagementListening to the employees more often and try to follow their ideas from time to time. Communication and transparency should be improved.

You'll be amazed at the amount of chaos at this company!!

    Product Development Engineer (Former Employee)
    Montreal, QC (Canada)

ProsIts a name that looks good on your resume.

ConsThe company does not know where its wants to be in the next 10-15 years.
Product development is just a joke.
Most of the work packages are out-sourced to suppliers. All one ends up doing is just integration (a.k.a baby-sitting the supplier)
Management ALWAYS want to show the supplier in poor light, so that they can look good to their higher-ups. This generates unnecessary friction and lack of trust b/w the OEM and the supplier. As a result the supplier does not care about the quality of the end-product.
For that matter there is in-fighting b/w product development groups across various locations.
Basic communication b/w structure and systems groups is absent.
Analysis methods and process are vintage 1950's! Core engineering group that is in-charge of bringing in new and improved methods of analysis has taken a hike!
Company runs on deadlines that in most cases are un-realistic.
Propriety methods from supplier's are most sought off as in-house talent is zero!
No solid or strong focus on R&D.
If you're not french and work in product development at Montreal, the chances of you getting side-lined are huge.
Managers are biased and not fair.

Advice to Senior ManagementWake up and realize that you're in the business of making jets. If you want a piece of the action and want to compete with the likes of Boeing and Airbus, you need to clean up your act NOW!!!
    Invest in R&D
Promote technical managers and not man managers.
Put faith in people who can achieve and lead by example rather than those who just prepare colorful presentations, and can talk, talk and just talk.
And finally for god sake remove the french bias. Its hard to imagine a company which has only french speaking people at higher positions when you're flag-ship products (including the C-series) carry the Canadian flag!!

    Great company overall.

    Aircraft Mechanic A&P (Current Employee)
    Tucson, AZ

Pros-3 weeks paid vacation time. Ability to use as you please (depending on supervisor)
    -Very friendly environment
    -Bonus incentives
-Company provides lunch a few times per year

Cons-Money is currently tight. No employees received a raise (2014)
-Took away college tuition reimbursement. I had already signed up and partially paid. Was never brought up on any meetings this was going away.
-Tooling and equipment is in short supply.
-Factory training on aircraft is in short supply due to budget cuts.

Advice to Senior Management-Bring back tuition reimbursement (big hit to me and others)
-Shake up the crews, people are getting to complacent and territorial.
