I have been working at Bombardier Aerospace full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

-3 weeks paid vacation time. Ability to use as you please (depending on supervisor)
    -Very friendly environment
    -Bonus incentives
-Company provides lunch a few times per year

    Cons

-Money is currently tight. No employees received a raise (2014)
-Took away college tuition reimbursement. I had already signed up and partially paid. Was never brought up on any meetings this was going away.
-Tooling and equipment is in short supply.
-Factory training on aircraft is in short supply due to budget cuts.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

-Bring back tuition reimbursement (big hit to me and others)
-Shake up the crews, people are getting to complacent and territorial.

I worked at Bombardier Aerospace full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Great product, beautiful airplane, benefits, pay. Nice and improving facility, clean, great work balance.

    Cons

Perception from other department personnel was that our leaders had no clue on what they were doing. We were divided into two groups that never communicated. If you weren't in the "click" you were inferior.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I would just suggest the old saying "all glitter ain't gold". Value your senior employees.

I worked at Bombardier Aerospace as a contractor (more than an year)

    Pros

Great People!!!! Company is working on the cutting edge of a new technology and because of that, there are many areas that can be improved. Bombardier is moving in the right direction (with the products) but because of a struggling economy their management had to make a lot of tough decisions like letting people go. I was laid off at the end of 2013 but I would go back and work there if I had the opportunity.

    Cons

Too much Work was being outsourced to Mexico, bring the jobs back to the US.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Bring the work back to the US!!!!

I worked at Bombardier Aerospace full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

The knowledge that you are building the finest aircraft in the world. Good benefits. Has great job advancement opportunities.

    Cons

As a direct employee, it is a pretty good employer. As a contractor they treat you as though they own you. As your always on the verge of loosing your job.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Let your people do their jobs. I was very disapponited in the management. I was not impressed with how my working hours changed almost every day. They were constantly changing people to different shifts for no apparent reason.

I have been working at Bombardier Aerospace full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Pay and benefits. There is a 20 word minimum but I don't have much else to say except that in today's economy, the pay and benefits for this company are the pros.

    Cons

If you are not part of the clique, this is a hostile work environment. Management on the floor has little skill in effectively managing personnel. The main techniques used to manage is negative reinforcement and micro-managing. This Bombardier facility burdens the mechanics with redundant processes and procedures that make it nearly impossible to effectively accomplish your job. They work 4 days on 4 days off, 3 days on 3 days off which might seem great at first....unless you are on night shift. 12 hour shifts through the night. When I agreed to move here and work at this facility, I was told that I would have to be on night shift for about a year.....don't believe it! If you go on night shift, you will never get onto day shift. After a couple of years of working an unnatural shift, with awkward days off (you will never find a routine) your body will start to become run down. The lack of quality sleep will probably make your memory suffer too.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The management at this facility is out of touch with the real feelings of it's employees. Everyone is on pins and needles at all times and it seems that is what the management at this facility desires.
