    Pros

Pay and benefits. There is a 20 word minimum but I don't have much else to say except that in today's economy, the pay and benefits for this company are the pros.

    Cons

If you are not part of the clique, this is a hostile work environment. Management on the floor has little skill in effectively managing personnel. The main techniques used to manage is negative reinforcement and micro-managing. This Bombardier facility burdens the mechanics with redundant processes and procedures that make it nearly impossible to effectively accomplish your job. They work 4 days on 4 days off, 3 days on 3 days off which might seem great at first....unless you are on night shift. 12 hour shifts through the night. When I agreed to move here and work at this facility, I was told that I would have to be on night shift for about a year.....don't believe it! If you go on night shift, you will never get onto day shift. After a couple of years of working an unnatural shift, with awkward days off (you will never find a routine) your body will start to become run down. The lack of quality sleep will probably make your memory suffer too.

    Advice to Management

The management at this facility is out of touch with the real feelings of it's employees. Everyone is on pins and needles at all times and it seems that is what the management at this facility desires.

    Pros

Outstanding comp plan, company has an excellent work force at all levels.

    Cons

Got rid of to many senior people and it is effecting company performance.

    Advice to Management

They need to hire some of their senior people back as the current officers are not seasoned enough to deliver outstanding performance.

    Pros

Fellow employees were great to be around. Management was the opposite. And HR is the WORST! Traveled to work at other locations. Each is essentially their own "business" and run differently.

    Cons

Working Hours were horrible. Best working hours were determined by seniority. There seniority = 8+ years. Constant threat of layoffs

    Advice to Management

Care about your lower level employees and fight FOR them!

  6. Bombardier is a customer service driven company that works hard to be the best.

    Pros

    Great benefits and professional environment.

    Cons

Twelve hour shift structure does not help with balancing personal life.

    Advice to Management

Go to the old style shift structure to retain employees rather than sticking to the current style to try and squeeze efficiency out of constantly renewing and inexperienced people.

    Pros

Great benefits, available overtime I'd you choose to work. Friendly coworker. Also a lot of vacation time and sick time. You can also sell back vacation time if you choose not to use them.

    Cons

Pay freezes. Sometime they have pay freeze and no one gets a raise for a couple month to a year. Can be stressful if you are behind schedule. Sometime the management don't like to take advice

    Advice to Management

Management should listen to some of the mechanic for some advice. You should also reward worker who are always on time instead of punish them. There is a lot of guys that like to work overtime because they want the extra money so they slack off and slowing the whole line down and wasting company money.

    Pros

Competitive pay, laid back, always have new projects to challenge you.

    Cons

Not necessarily the most organized company you'll ever work for.

    Advice to Management

Organize the structure properly and compensate employees on merit and not just give every employee 2 to 5% raise every year.

    Cons

Lack of team work, tight on time, always rushing to get jobs done, sacrificing quality for quantity, lack of training, lack of tooling, lack of parts, lack of support from with in the company.

    Advice to Management

Respect your employees, provide the training, and you will keep people

    Pros

It's a job. Much better support equipment compared to Ft Lauderdale, you wouldn't think it was the same company. English is spoken here, unlike Ft Lauderdale. You'll be very happy when shift is over.

    Cons

    - You'll learn quickly that you're just another number.
    - Most lead mechanics care about one thing, making sure they won't ever have to hold a tool again.
    - Moral is extremely low.
    - 3 minute window for everyone to clock in, one second after and you're late, 20 car pile-up in front of you or not.
    - Pre-work meetings will kill off any sort of happiness you may have arrived at work with.
    - Management isn't happy until you're unhappy.
    - Petty new company rules and regulations are non-stop in order for management to justify their existence.
    - Many trip-wires to dodge, in order to avoid getting a bad boy/girl "point" against you.
    - Asking a question or guidance from lead mechanic's can cause them to become very hostile.
    - Been here over 3 months and have never seen, met, or spoken to GM.
    - Missed promised completion dates are never the project managers fault.

    Advice to Management

Ask yourselves, why the company can't retain talented people. Learn to start treating your people, as just that, and maybe those that don't feel "stuck" there, will stay. Stop looking at the mechanics as the reason the aircraft are consistently not meeting the project managers "promised" completion date. Dole out rewards, half as much as you hand out reprimands. Expect others to walk on water, only after you can.
