Pros
Good benefits overall. Strong Leadership with Pierre Beaudoin. Not enough strong leadership at Transportation division.
Cons
Process driven. Does not reward achievement. Lack of transparency relative to pay and advancement and performance.
Advice to Senior Management
Reward achievement of goals that better the company. Increase transparency of pay, performance, and advancement opportunities.
Pros
The salary that Bombardier offers is very competitive in the Private Aviation sector. There are also 9 paid holidays. PTO, or paid time off is also available. If you are of certain ethnicities, you will be recruited aggressively. If you are not of those ethnicities, it will take months of persistence, follow-up, and calling to even be considered for a position.
Cons
The management at this location is incompetent, spineless, and without a personal morality compass. If anything goes wrong, managers hide in their offices. If employees are disruptive, or create conflict, you can expect that your manager will turn a blind eye to the situation. You are on your own. It is a Hostile work environment with no teamwork.
Advice to Senior Management
Take a stand. Believe in Something, and work to make it happen. Say Hello to people you work with. Look people in the eye. Have a spine and discipline the employees who create trouble instead of continuing to lose qualified, good employees.
Pros
Bombardier Transportation is definitely a good place to work. They are very serious about customer satisfaction , the technicans, and thesafety of their workers. Senior Management and HR open the lines of communication with "All Associate" meetings on a monthly basis.
During the meetings the leaders of O & M, Quality, Engineering, Supervisors, HR and even the General Manager will participate in this open forum. The meeting is taken very seriously as a employee engagement tool. The management commnicates the busines information and feedback is taken to evaluate best practices.
Also, there is a vey important shift to shift briefing to assist all in the daily operations of the monorail system. This briefing is very similar to other transportation industries and should be counted as a good benchmark and best practice.
Cons
The competition of the similiar industries encourages the technicans to move on. After getting good training from the site; the technicians seek employment at other transportation companies. The turnover of personnel with 1-2 yearsservice must improve.
Advice to Senior Management
Improve the high employee turnover rates some local locations.
Pros
World leader, growth oriented, team environment. Bombardier has acquired 4 aircraft manufacturing companies- Canadair, Learjet, de Havilland and Shorts (Belfast). The company has done a good job of taking the good from each organisation. The marketing department is challenged to sell competing with other good manufacturers.
Cons
Large corporation so communication can be slow.
Advice to Senior Management
Please help each area/business unit to understand the needs of other departments.
Pros
Well known international company. Possibility of advancement. Challenging and motivating career.
Cons
You are sometimes treated like a number as it would be the case for many large scale companies.
Its a high tech company so subject to be hit by recession.
Advice to Senior Management
More profit sharing. Less red tape. More true listening to all levels of the organization
Pros
Good place, neat, clean, decent benefits, but not great pay
Cons
Pay, expect too much too fast, then gripe about costs. "System" is not geared towards doing things efficiently - too much bureaucracy.
Advice to Senior Management
Pay more, quit pushing everything by "COB (Close of business) I.E.: Today
