A fair company with many opportunities.

Business Analyst (Former Employee) Montreal, QC (Canada)

ProsFair company, good compensation& benifit, flexible work hours, able to work from home

    ConsConstant Layoffs, IT outsourced

Advice to Senior ManagementThe most recent layoff has hurt many good professionals. Management will regret when they compare the quality of the work that internal employees delivered with outsourced companies.

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Good place to work at, very bureaucratic and political, process focus

Supply Chain Agent (Current Employee) Montreal, QC (Canada)

    ProsGreat experience
    Great name on your CV
    Good benefits
    Good development opportunities
Good teams and good people to work with

    ConsVery political sometimes
Lengthy and hard to move from a department to another department
Company is in cost containment for a long time now and it makes things challenging - lack of resources
Cash issues in company are reflected in tools to enable your work and productivity - not enough of this

    Priviledged opportunity

Engineer (Current Employee) Montreal, QC (Canada)

Pros- opportunity to work in world class products
    - great experience
    - flexible hours
    - good work/life balance
    - immediate supervisors/managers are close to the employees and usually understand their needs
    - everyday something new, there is no routine work for an engineer
    - opportunity to learn a lot

Cons- too much politics in the company
    - you might spend most of your time with brainless work dealing with paperwork and heavy processes
    - below average salaries
    - no overtime pay
    - unbalance in amount of work between departments, some departments specially the ones that work in development programs are too much overloaded

Advice to Senior Management- standardize the processes and and make them more user friendly
    - upper management needs to get involved more in what's happening at lower levels
    - stop trying to copy the automotive industry and apply it to aerospace, it just doesnt work

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

Internship was constructive but did not lead to any discussion on future plans,

Business Relationship Management (Former Employee) Dorval, QC (Canada)

ProsThe salary is OK but does not reflect the background of the employee.
A big corporation offers a lot of career opportunities but only if you are a permanent employee (not contractor).
Excellent co-workers and work atmosphere depends a lot on the team.

ConsDoes not want to progress and move forward.
Does not look to do pro-active recruitment
Upper management make employess reliable for the financial situation when times are hard but does not cut on unnecessary expenses.

    – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Hard driving culture that sometimes focuses on the wrong things

Marketing Manager (Current Employee) Montreal, QC (Canada)

ProsBombardier has a lot of hard working talented people. People are willing to put in the extra effort (nights/weekends) to get things done.

ConsGoals or focus is sometimes misguided. Large efforts put into things that will yield little return. There can often be an attitude of "if it ain't built here".

Advice to Senior ManagementLook outside Bombardier for guidance. Don't allow your employees to continually recreate the wheel. Sometimes it is better to build off what others have already done.

Bombardier is a good company, there are certainly more opportunities in aerospace related areas than in administrative

Internal Auditor (Former Employee) Montreal, QC (Canada)

ProsLots of travel for most of the positions, which helps to know other plants, and get to see different places in the world
Very good work-life balance, I never felt overworked at Bombardier
Management cares about employees, they even do frequent offsites and take into consideration people's opinion, the vice president of my group was a very down to earth person

ConsNot the best benefits compared to other companies, but salary is not bad
Not many opportunities of advancement outside Montreal, due to structure, most of the functions are in Montreal, while other locations are mainly operations or factories

Advice to Senior ManagementBombardier is a great place to work !

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend
