Pros
Nice employees. Some of them seem to be weird and more on the older side but I suppose that means there will be a lot of room for growth over the years. Clean facility, good location.
Cons
When things arent getting done on time no one is having fun if your department is to blame. Parking can be bad.
Advice to Senior Management
Be more open with employees. It seems like some information is withheld and dumb personal politics create problems sometimes.
Pros
Great place to work and develop knowledge. Compensation adequate and good benefits
Cons
Company success very dependant on world economics and recessions
Advice to Senior Management
More transparancy!
Pros
Nice working environment for employees
Cons
Slow paced work place for professional
Advice to Senior Management
Be proactive
Pros
Bombardier hasan excellent compensation policy that is managed very well by the Board and Senior management. This company allows people to do their jobs and be creative and flexibly in meeting its challenges. The company is well lead by the senior management team but could use some balance by adding management form its foreign subsidaries.
Cons
Senior Management has a difficult time understanding market differences between US and Canadian Business. The problem was created as the company began to fill some key positions with Canadian Management these positions where not educated to the American position. This is not about right and wrong but about a lack of understanding which creates the problems.
Advice to Senior Management
To address the problems highlighted above management needs training, which would extend down to the worker on the floor. this could be done by a short course or even video.
Pros
Lots of travel for most of the positions, which helps to know other plants, and get to see different places in the world
Very good work-life balance, I never felt overworked at Bombardier
Management cares about employees, they even do frequent offsites and take into consideration people's opinion, the vice president of my group was a very down to earth person
Cons
Not the best benefits compared to other companies, but salary is not bad
Not many opportunities of advancement outside Montreal, due to structure, most of the functions are in Montreal, while other locations are mainly operations or factories
Advice to Senior Management
Bombardier is a great place to work !
Pros
flexibility & benefits are very good
Cons
personal development is not sufficient
Advice to Senior Management
KPI for immediate manager
Pros
Its a good place to learn about the railway and all that is involved with it, good place for Training and certifications.
Cons
Really bad management, lack of organization. They don't really care about your personal life, as long as you come and do the work its all good.
Advice to Senior Management
Be more respectful with the employees, at the end they are the ones that have the company running. Be more organize and more clear in your golas and communicate that with the personal.
Pros
Good benefits overall. Strong Leadership with Pierre Beaudoin. Not enough strong leadership at Transportation division.
Cons
Process driven. Does not reward achievement. Lack of transparency relative to pay and advancement and performance.
Advice to Senior Management
Reward achievement of goals that better the company. Increase transparency of pay, performance, and advancement opportunities.
Pros
The salary that Bombardier offers is very competitive in the Private Aviation sector. There are also 9 paid holidays. PTO, or paid time off is also available. If you are of certain ethnicities, you will be recruited aggressively. If you are not of those ethnicities, it will take months of persistence, follow-up, and calling to even be considered for a position.
Cons
The management at this location is incompetent, spineless, and without a personal morality compass. If anything goes wrong, managers hide in their offices. If employees are disruptive, or create conflict, you can expect that your manager will turn a blind eye to the situation. You are on your own. It is a Hostile work environment with no teamwork.
Advice to Senior Management
Take a stand. Believe in Something, and work to make it happen. Say Hello to people you work with. Look people in the eye. Have a spine and discipline the employees who create trouble instead of continuing to lose qualified, good employees.
Pros
Bombardier Transportation is definitely a good place to work. They are very serious about customer satisfaction , the technicans, and thesafety of their workers. Senior Management and HR open the lines of communication with "All Associate" meetings on a monthly basis.
During the meetings the leaders of O & M, Quality, Engineering, Supervisors, HR and even the General Manager will participate in this open forum. The meeting is taken very seriously as a employee engagement tool. The management commnicates the busines information and feedback is taken to evaluate best practices.
Also, there is a vey important shift to shift briefing to assist all in the daily operations of the monorail system. This briefing is very similar to other transportation industries and should be counted as a good benchmark and best practice.
Cons
The competition of the similiar industries encourages the technicans to move on. After getting good training from the site; the technicians seek employment at other transportation companies. The turnover of personnel with 1-2 yearsservice must improve.
Advice to Senior Management
Improve the high employee turnover rates some local locations.
