    Pros

Great opportunity to contribute and experience the aviation community

    Cons

Infrastructure does not currently allow for upward mobility, salary raises or promotions based on good performance.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

During this time of restructure, now is the time to tap into the talents of those who remain and are added.

I worked at Bombardier full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Work-life balance was good, decent wages, good benefits and awesome people (you won't find better co-workers)

    Cons

Promotions aren't so much based on skill (in the area I worked in anyway), but solely by how long you've been at the company so going above and beyond takes a long time to be recognized unfortunately. Leadership, in the area I worked in, was non-existent from the supervisor level up to the director level. Fortunately, that is not in every area though.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I can only speak for the leadership I had during my time there. Ongoing leadership training and guidance could help the leadership at all levels at Bombardier. They should also re-think their promotion structure. It doesn't help productivity.

I have been working at Bombardier full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

If you are a hard worker you, you can stand out from the crowd.
There is always plenty of work to be done, you should never be bored.

    Cons

Management tends to let many people go along without producing anything for the company for a very long time, meanwhile the better employees get bombarded with work and struggle to keep up. However, most of the time, the ones working their tails off are getting the same pay or less than the ones surfing the web most of the day. This is one of the top reasons I'm looking to go somewhere else.
They also pay less than many companies would for people with a strong skill set. Oh, but they pay contractors very well, then bring them on permanently for a salary much higher than the those people that have been there 5-8+ years already and working their tails off to get a tiny raise each year!! (Another significant reason why I am looking to leave)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay your hard working, skilled employees what they are worth or their all going to leave.
Also, learn how to manage the employees' work loads to level them out.
Many, many people are looking to leave at this time and management doesn't seem to have a clue.

    I worked at Bombardier

    Pros

Bombardier hasan excellent compensation policy that is managed very well by the Board and Senior management. This company allows people to do their jobs and be creative and flexibly in meeting its challenges. The company is well lead by the senior management team but could use some balance by adding management form its foreign subsidaries.

    Cons

Senior Management has a difficult time understanding market differences between US and Canadian Business. The problem was created as the company began to fill some key positions with Canadian Management these positions where not educated to the American position. This is not about right and wrong but about a lack of understanding which creates the problems.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

To address the problems highlighted above management needs training, which would extend down to the worker on the floor. this could be done by a short course or even video.
