I worked at Bon Secours Hampton Roads full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

The best thing about this job is your coworkers. You become like family and everyone helps out to get the job done.

    Cons

Upper management is stuck in the mud and are used to doing things the old fashioned way. They are very closed minded. They laid off the entire Central Billing Office and opened a new one in Greenville SC to save the co money. A lot of experience was sent out the door to train new people and pay them less.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Upper management can improve if they begin to understand the value in the people that work there and start doing everything they can to bring out the best in each person. Start with telling them that they do a good job and invest in additional training.

I have been working at Bon Secours Hampton Roads part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Great mission and values, always wanting fellow employees to succeed.

    Cons

Hiring freezes and budget cuts made it difficult to "rise" in the company!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Could use more help/employees in the Wellness department- just saying! There are only 2 wellness team members in the HR, while 8-10 are in Richmond! If there were more employees in Wellness, the program could be much more successful.

I worked at Bon Secours Hampton Roads

    Pros

It seemed that most nursing and some physician staff tried to treat patients well. No smoking campuses are very nice.

    Cons

The administration and leadership was inconsistent and often lacked follow-through. More concerning was that some members seemed willing to engage in some deceptive behaviors that didn't seem consistent with the values and ideals of a Catholic organization. In short there seemed to be a disconnect between the mission and values professed, and the actions toward and treatment of some people in the organization.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Walk the talk.
