I have been working at Bon Secours Health full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Great Company with great benefits and is a faith based Catholic Health Care Organization that stays true to the mission. Opportunities seem to be endless with Bon Secours and I am fortunate to work in this organization.

    Cons

Sometimes not an early adopter of emerging technologies and very structured to the point of it being a fault. But overall they are awesome to work with.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you are doing, it is working and it is great to work with such a mission focused organization, that puts patients first. They do a great job with their staff and are a Gallup Best Place to Work.

    Pros

Small town. that needs local care

    Cons

Port Jervis I worked there for 30+ years and fired 2 days after my anniversary, Excuse was to many call outs even though I had 30 days in sick bank and my mother got ill and I needed to help her. they have done this to over 2 dozen other long time employees so younger less expensive nurses took their places. They have closed maternity ward, outsourced ER unit and now controlled out of Virginia. Now they supposedly sold to Westchester Medical and are turning into same day surgery and cutting beds in half, Should no longer be called a Hospital

    Advice to Management

Turn back to a Hospital and try and restore Community Hospital

    Pros

It's corporate - if you know how to play the game, you're in. The benefits are tremendous.

    Cons

the talk is not always aligned with the walk. Always needing to be cautious as you never know how someone is interpreting what you are doing erroneously.

    Advice to Management

Be more authentic with your employees - and show appreciation and praise !

I have been working at Bon Secours Health full-time

    Pros

Bon Secours offers a truly family atmosphere as long as you are a healthcare provider. I am often jealous of the number of staff members who have worked here for more than 10 years. We have nurses and techs with more than 30 years at this hospital.

    Cons

However, working in the administrative arena here is not so much fun if you are on the bottom rungs of the ladder. No racial issues exist here but there is a social discrimination that exists among the C-Suite. Bring your lunch every day because the food worth eating is limited in the cafeteria - Morrison is the vendor and they haven't quite caught on to the idea that if it's good for you, it can taste good too. The building is old and falling down around us. If you get a job anywhere else on campus - it will be great.

    Advice to Management

Remember that those of us not directly involved in care have feelings and esteem too. Put more care into the vendors hired that will take pride in the mission as much as we employees do. Instead of branching out the campus so much, have a capital campaign to fix the hospital building or replace it.
