Advice to Senior Management
Get a new job.
Pros
Company gives you the ability to make your own schedule and teaches you how the wireless business works. Being the leader in prepaid sales, it is a great place to work.
Cons
Boost needs to add more competetive offers to its customers so that company can continue to be the prepaid wireless leader. They also need to consider the employees for management positions and start to train the employees to move up into new roles.
Advice to Senior Management
Management needs to pay very close attention to the employees and the suggestions that are made to improve the business. If they want to see their employees grow and do greater things in their careers train them to move up. Also, dont promote your buddies promote those who are qualified, and have the experience to do the job.
Pros
You learn a lot working for boost. There are so many things to learn, and you learn a lot about handling money and being honest to your manager. It's also a great job for people who can speak several languages.
Cons
All good jobs have some sort of problem at times. The only thing that I can say that isn't too good with working with Boost is that the customers sometime get often angry when something goes wrong with their service. I'm a boost dealer, not tech. support. Call them, haha.
Advice to Senior Management
Give the boost mobile dealers healthcare benefits! We work very hard to provide excellent wireless service, and you should provide us excellent health and dental insurance!
Pros
Boost's best assets are its people. Top notch professionals with a lot of passion for what they do. You will enjoy working with these folks.
Cons
Too much change. The industry is very fluid and the company is not an exception. It is difficult to feel secure at your job.
Advice to Senior Management
I always had a great relationship with upper management. I would say, listen to the folks in the manager level. That's where the struggles sometimes are. More support would be ideal.
Pros
The people working at Boost are dedicated and talented. The level of excitment around doing a good job is very evident. It is a pleasure to work with friendly and enthusiastic team members who are willing to share their knowledge and support.
Cons
Telecommunications in general is very volitile and fast paced. The pace is very manageable, but the uncertainty of continuity combined with constant change is tough and wears people down. Being a part of a larger organization where there are regular lay-offs hangs over the work being done. This constant change really puts people on edge. The day to day work is challenging and exciting but change without real change management and a solid workforce planning strategy from the leaders is demoralizing.
Advice to Senior Management
Sprint would benefit from a solid HR presence and leadership training around change management and workforce planning. There are some disturbing leadership qualities exhibited from the top down that lead people to believe they are not valued, starting with a self-service HR department. Self-service is very efficient and great for having data at hand; but having a stronger HR presence would help to minimize demoralizing leadership behaviors and enhance succession planning and growth. Doing more to help your leaders deal with the realities of the constant change in the telcom world would ultimately result in even greater sales and service.
Pros
Work culture is one of the most laid back that I have ever seen. The attitude is very So. Cal. which means that everything is copacetic as long as you get your work done. Ability to speak with upper management is really easy and the company benefits align with those of Sprint, the parent company.
Cons
If you do no like telecom, then this will not be the place to work. Work is highly contingent upon the state of the telecom industry.
Advice to Senior Management
Keep it up. The Boost culture is truly unique and a definite selling point to customers, employees, and the industry.
Pros
The people at Boost Mobile do not care what your rank is in the org chart is, they listen to what you have to say and even the President of the company will come right to your cube to ask you a question. It is great working for a company where my title means less and my expertise means more. I gave the company all 5's except for salary only because it wasn't above the market average, it was on target with the market. Which I don't think is a negative thing, it is just the way the company does salaries, they are fair, and the benefits are fantastic
Cons
There is some poor communciation between departments, but if you work a little harder, you can get them to open up. The website says I have to write 100 words in order to fill this space, and I don't have 100 words worth of criticism. So I am now just writing this so I can finish my review of the company. Boost Mobile is a great place to work, I feel valued and needed and that I am part of something that is bigger than myself, but I get to play a key role and I love that about the company.
Advice to Senior Management
Keep doing what your doing, it is working
