Former Employee – worked at Booz Allen Hamilton
Pros – The people I worked with at Booz were competent and highly intelligent professionals.
Cons – The nature of consulting requires flexibility on the part of the consultant with regards to workplace location, project subject matter, and travel. Consulting may not be a good fit for those looking for a more stable work/life balance.
Advice to Senior Management – I greatly enjoyed my time with Booz Allen. Ultimately, I left the firm for a position at a competing company that offered higher compensation and a better work/life balance.

Pros – I've have really enjoyed my time with Booz Allen. Compared to other companies I've worked for, they put a lot of effort into making you feel a part of larger team. I think a lot of the culture stems from the large amount of employees with prior military experience. Information sharing and williness to help out another employee with a project, even one you're not on, is just part of the company culture.
Cons – The Norfolk office is growing quickly so I'd say the only "con" is keeping up with all the new hires and trying to maintain that "small office" camaraderie.
Advice to Senior Management – n/a

Current Employee – been working at Booz Allen Hamilton
Pros – Exposure to different areas of the business. The people here are friendly and help each other out. Some may even put in their own personal time to help you.
Cons – Rewards are primarily focused on contributions towards business development. If you want to just focus on technical work and avoid business development and management, then this is probably not the place you want to be.
Advice to Senior Management – The people who help sustain business are as important as those who build it

Former Employee – worked at Booz Allen Hamilton
Pros – Very collaborative, great work-life balance, respectable company, great location.
Cons – Only up for promotion annually, and salary increase is a percentage of initial salary.
Advice to Senior Management – Get better HR, your process for college recruiting is the worst process I have ever been a part of. It was really frustrating, and one of the main reasons I am not returning.

Current Employee – been working at Booz Allen Hamilton
Pros – Booz Allen Hamilton is committed to junior staff development, and makes a demonstrated commitment both financially and with available time off to ensure that staff take advantage of development opportunities. In addition, career mobility is a tangible benefit: growth within the company allows employees to determine their career path, and Booz Allen's size and diversity allows them to explore their options while staying with the firm.
Cons – The financial commitment to postgraduate education, while generous, represents a stagnant benefit. The firm pays for graduate classes, but the amount offered has not changed since the 1990s.
Advice to Senior Management – Increase the postgraduate investment from its current levels. Continue to make demonstrated commitment to employee compensation package assessment against industry standards.

Pros – You get a so-so laptop PC assigned to you when you start.
Cons – You can't believe the all of the things that they tell you/sell you on when you are hiring in. No work-life balance. Arrogant, smug and unseasoned managers. The company relies on its BIG NAME and appearance (you MUST wear a neck-tie to work every day - cough-cough). Although the company claims a good work-life balance, you will quickly find yourself working 24/7 with little or no time-off - even on weekends. It is a good place to start your career - IF you are a new graduate who will work your a$$ off and get brainwashed into believing the company's mantra. The company goes to great lengths to make you believe that it is the greatest place on earth to work, yet you will find yourself working ALL of the time, 24/7, while the company is billing the client for your every waking, working hour.
Do yourself a BIG favor, pass on this employer and look for a more solid company that treats their employees better! Here, you are a salaried employee, and must bow to the local partner who considers himself to be king of the world.
Advice to Senior Management – You are too smug for your own good. Deflate your lofty egos. Take some management classes. Don't LIE to your employees about how great the work-life balance and benefits are.

Pros – There used to be so many, but now that we split our business, the culture has changed. Some of our work is rewarding, but that is now few and far between. The people are great, except for high senior management (see cons). It's a shame. I loved this place and unfortunately, the greed of the partners has ruined a great place to work.
Cons – Where to start. The work is increasingly mundane, project management related work. We are quickly becoming another boring government contractor. The quality of new hires has been suspect. I am embarrassed by it. Morale is low. And we are going public, and with that comes a new focus on utilization. If you want to expand your career, well, you can't since you are expected to be fully utilized. And what about input on what type of work you want to do? Gone. As I said above, I LOVED this place...but I guess all good things come to an end. It's too bad the partners have sold the firm out for their own personal wealth. It's disgusting, but I don't blame them. They stand to make a lot of money with the upcoming IPO. Great for them, crappy for all the hardworking, great people who have given their lives to their work.
Advice to Senior Management – Look at yourself in the mirror and ask "at what point did I sell out?" Congrats on your new found wealth. Congrats on imploding a once great place to work.

Pros – I'm always proud to say I work for Booz Allen. In my 2 years working at BAH I have had very good experiences and at time when most companies are laying people off and cancelling holiday parties BAH is still going strong. I find that the morale is usually high and my BAH collegues are all high achievers. I like the 360 degree review process, where not only your supervisor reviews you but also your collegues and clients. We are also evaluated on how we give back to the company (although some may think this is a con, because it would require them to do things outside their normal work day). I have always been a believer that what you get out of something depends on what you put into it....and this is exactly what BAH is about. BAH gives the opportunity for an employee to name their own price, to name their own level.
Cons – Booz Allen is not for everyone. There is a certain "fit" for Booz Allen. From what I've seen, people who don't fit in with the core values of the company tend not to have a very good experience. Employees that do well here usually like a challenging work environment and like to participate in the extra-curricular work and activities, social networking events, brown bag lunches, training opportunities...etc
Advice to Senior Management – The leadership I have grown to know has been very motivating.
