    Pros

You work with incredibly smart people from diverse backgrounds - diversity of thought, not just skin color
Great projects that are making a big impact at our clients
Great industry alignment - you really get to the know the industry you are working in, in great depth
    Good compensation
Great brand name to have on your resume that opens up a lot of post-consulting opportunities

    Cons

Work hours can be very very long. But this is an industry norm as opposed to a company specific situation

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Great work overall. However, there is a need to make the business operate as one global business as opposed to regional silos.

I worked at Booz & Company full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Everyone you work with at the ground level is smart; some of the principals are too.
    Benefits are pretty incredible.
Overall, you are treated with respect.

    Cons

Muddled strategy leads to messy project management.
New strategy doesn't have much buy-in from partners or junior staff.
Firm services perennially gets the shaft from client staff and management.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Work out the infighting between global regional leadership. It's embarrassing to see otherwise capable and brilliant people acting like bratty children!

I have been working at Booz & Company full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Great place to work. I have not really met any single person that I've not enjoyed working with. Company seems to reward people well with promotions. Get to work on some interesting problems. I've had good work-life balance

    Cons

Some lack of direction. General obsessiveness of beating McKinsey, or using them as a benchmark, as opposed to just focusing on what we do best and going with it

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Focus on Booz

I have been working at Booz & Company

    Pros

An great place filled with truly dynamic people, Booz is a great place to launch or accelerate a career, or make a long-term home for those interested in career consulting. As someone who has worked at multiple consulting firms the key advantages are:

-A dynamic entrepreneurial environment; unlike the rest of MB3 consultants at Booz are free to work across many clients and launch their own products and offerings. Regardless of level, if you can think up a great project and a client wants to buy it you are free to do so.
-A truly diverse environment; the company is filled not only with top tier MBAs, but PHDs, industry experts, and top consultants from various backgrounds and all parts of the world
-Embracing the future: The company's new strategy is replacing the Monday-Thursday paradigm with a more flexible, and impactful travel model. We go onsite and meet with our clients where and when it makes sense, not just because its the thing to do.

    Cons

While more flexible than other places the hours are still long and the work is still challenging, and management consulting is not everyone's cup of tea.

While the overall firm is leading the way with a new work model, change takes time and as team member you have to be cognizant of the style of people around you.

The hub offices offer great experiences for employees (e.g., New York, San Fran, Chicago, etc.), but some partners still insist on maintaining and attempting to recruit to offices off the beaten path (e.g., Cleveland) and need to come to terms with the reality of where high value consultants want to work and live in the new economy.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to believe in and push the new strategy and operating models.

I have been working at Booz & Company

    Pros

    - strong and visionary senior leadership team
    - opportunity to work on challenging and high impact client problems
    - down to earth staff with "roll up sleeves" style
    - practice structure allows those who want to specialize an opportunity to work in area of interest
    - good work-life programs (eg, sabbaticals, diversity networks)
    - fair compensation

    Cons

    - Passive aggressive culture with limited direct feedback
    - Virtually no formal training, and apprenticeship / on-the-job training breaks down at higher levels
    - recent short term local decisions call into question what the firm values
    - limited administrative support and general resources and poor knowledge mgmt mean that staff carry a burden that further reduces work / life balance

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Put clients and people first and everything else will fall into place. Raise the bar for expectations of partners regarding team leadership and apprenticeship.
