I worked at BorgWarner full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Great people to work with, good product, and good long term goals. BorgWarner offers above average compensation for the area and a excellent benefits package which are very attractive.

    Cons

Mismanagement of resources and major projects has caused higher than needed turn over. Project were taken on with to few resources available which has lead to major delays. Overwork of the employees is another issue, as a salaried individual it was not uncommon to see 80 hrs a week.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need more resources and a better understand of what you are committing to before your agree to it.

I worked at BorgWarner as an intern (more than a year)

    Pros

Great place to work, lots to learn, friendly people.

    Cons

    Sometimes monotonous work was required.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Co-op program needs more organization. It would be great to have an assigned mentor. I was lucky enough to find an engineer who kind of unofficially did this, but I know many other co-ops felt they lacked guidance.

I worked at BorgWarner as an intern (less than a year)

    Pros

Great people, very friendly and willing to help you out. Seemed to be lots of growth in the company and therefore many added positions and upwards momentum for current employees.

    Cons

As an intern, I had a very slow start. I was unsure of my responsibilities and therefore had a good chunk of the internship where I feel that I accomplished nothing at all. However, this definitely picked up towards the end. I ended up being able to contribute significantly and left with a worthwhile experience.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Perhaps more guidance for interns.

I have been working at BorgWarner full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Good company culture, great benefits, and job security. There's freedom to try new things, and opportunities to grow professionally. This is a great place to work.

    Cons

It's a big company, so sometimes things move slowly. The work load can be heavy at times, but supervisors are realistic and supportive.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep up the good work. More leadership development within the company would be one area to improve.

I have been working at BorgWarner as an intern (less than a year)

    Pros

Great company with a good working environment, the ability to learn was great. I felt comfortable asking questions to those above me and enjoyed the experience overall. Full time employees seemed to have a good work life balance and could easily manage responsibilities in a timely manner.

    Cons

As an intern, I found myself with not much to do sometimes which could be frustrating. I wanted to be as helpful as I could be but often found there wasn't much for me to do. I also got to know a few other interns in different departments with the same issue.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Create a more structured internship program so that the interns are able to feel useful the entire time they are there.

I have been working at BorgWarner full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

They will give you infinite opportunities if you make it known you are a high performer and want to move to the top. Borg really harnesses assertiveness from sharp, young minds.

    Cons

The manufacturing industry can be a bit boring at times. The people I work with are cool but it's not really a "really exciting place to work!" type of atmosphere.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Devote more of your recruiting efforts to your co-ops and interns. They are the future of your company. By 2020 millennials will account for approx. 75% of the workforce. When you all of your management is upper 40s and up, it's discouraging for a young professional to pursue that company. Need strategic development plans for positions. You pay well, so offer the rest of the package and this company will do big things.
