Pros
the pay was great and i made a lot of good friends at the job. their employee buffet is also amazing
Cons
it always got repetitive since i only had one job title, so i was doing the same thing every shift
Advice to Senior Management
give people more to do on their job so they wont get bored of doing the same thing over and over again
Pros
Pays well, 7 hour days, optional early-outs, lots of available time to take off or switch with other servers, decent FREE benefits package (single person, as long as you make your monthly hours worked and pay your union dues ~$40 per month) Full game and slot rotation which is unlike most other cocktail server positions in AC, management is pretty absent most of the shift and lets you handle yourself (they don't micromanage), free gym membership, free employee meal which is pretty good (nice salad bar, full array of hot food- not too diet friendly but they're getting better).
Cons
Work Weekends, EVERY HOLIDAY unless it falls on your day off, always on-call for NYE and NYD on your day off, VERY STRICT appearance standards (no crazy tattoos like sleeves, or anything too large or it must be covered), weigh-ins, very painful labor intensive job which includes wearing 2 1/2 inch heels everyday, carrying 30lb trays (not on the shoulder).
Advice to Senior Management
Only advice I'd like to give is when an employee does something wrong, that employee should be directly addressed about their wrongdoing. The whole group shouldn't be addressed and the employee not be singled out or pulled into the office. Other people shouldn't have to catch an earful due to someone else's bad behavior. Tha
Pros
There are opportunities for advancement, however you have to get past the obstacle of favoritism. Also, having experience trumps education.
Cons
You get paid every two weeks, and the salary is not that competitive. Also alot of favoritism in the workplace.
Advice to Senior Management
Mangagement should look at education as well as experience while considering pay. Raises should be implemented in the payscale somewhere.
Pros
It is the best place in town in terms of ambiance, culture, fashions, style and really upper class.
Cons
When it comes to promotions, it is not what you know but who you know.
Advice to Senior Management
Create a model to minimize corruption in giving out promotions.
Pros
pay and the health plan
Cons
you work like a dog, not respected, blamed for things managers do wrong
Advice to Senior Management
none
Pros
If you enjoy working while everyone else is having fun then borgat is for you. Its a great place to meet people with a lot of money and make some connections.
Cons
The biggest downside for me was being forced into a union where I disagreed with a lot of their policies. The number one of which was mandatory overtime. They can force you to stay or you could be "punished"..
Advice to Senior Management
Pay attention to all your customers. Sometimes they would tend to favor their proven customers and treat others like they didnt exist. Just because it may be someone's first trip to atlantic city doesnt mean it will be their only trip.
Pros
great pay, good benefits, flexibly schedule and clean working environment, good food in the employee cafeteria and the co workers were very friendly
Cons
working grave shifts, having your schedule changed weekly, having your days off changed weekly, long walk from parking to your work area
Advice to Senior Management
everything was fine as far as i can tell, only thing i would say is to keep employees in the loop about whats going on
