Pros
very unique company with great technology and people
very generous in employee giveaways and discounts to premium products
big company with lots to offer
Cons
financial systems are antiquated...too much reliance on Excel and Access
private company without the public company learning aspects
can't have food at desks
Advice to Senior Management
invest in more current financial tools
diversify product offering
partner with lower end auto companies for auto division
need wireless noise-cancellation head phones
Pros
One of the best parts is meeting people who absolutely LOVE the products. This feels great and makes you proud to work here. Great work/life balance. I rarely work more than 50 hours a week.
Cons
Career progression is limited and slow. The company intentionally limits growth to <10% year and it seems few people leave the company.
Getting stuff done depends entirely too much on personal relationships. Piss off the wrong person, you're screwed. Product strategy is heavily influenced by a handful of old-timers from the early days of the company. A few have a ton of influence but no accountability or responsibility themselves. Decisions are made through endless "alignment" meetings, usually in 1 on 1 meetings, making progress painfully slow.
Advice to Senior Management
Find ways to offer greater career options. Reduce the company's dependency on "1 on 1's" and to get work done. Making decisions that way takes too long.
Pros
was a good place to work, getting less so everyday
Cons
gone the way of most other manufacturing plants
Advice to Senior Management
practice what you preach
Pros
Good Discounts, good pay for retail; especially of the store makes bonus. Company treats its employees well and they offer good benefits.
Cons
Its retail, so you know; it has its basic drawbacks. Nights and weekends are usually required and it has the normal drains of working retail.
Advice to Senior Management
Bose is a good company that makes a great product and values its customers, however from a business stand point they aren't as effiecient as thet could be as a company.
Pros
Opportunity to work on various IT projects invoving different technologies so emplyees are not pigeon holed into one specific technology. Projects are reviewed for ROI and approved by Project Management Office before execution, so the employees are working on the right project at the right time using right resources and this keeps the team energized and focused.
Cons
Not seen any significant downsides of working at Bose.

Pros
The brand and the product are great, so you can be proud to say you work there. For an agency, the pay is quite competitive.
Cons
Conservative & boring (work & a lot of the people too, but hard to say, as there is no time to find out). The long ingrained corporate mind set combined with the new "agency" approach/ processes combines all the bad aspects of working for a big corporation with all of the bad aspects at an ad agency (the hours, expectations, deadlines).
Advice to Senior Management
Changing of the guard requires changing the henchman from the past as well.
Pros
Employees get a free lifestyle system while you work there, to get accustomed to the product they are selling, although you must return said system when you are no longer working there. great if you like music. good benefits.
Cons
Not a lot of customers during weekdays it gets very slow to the point where you must find a way to bide your time while waiting for customers during the week. picks up on the weekend, but it is a lot of "just looking." Team sales bonuses, no individual sales bonuses.
Advice to Senior Management
Make individual sales goals and bonuses along with the team sales goals and bonuses.
Pros
Great work environment. Great balance of work and home life. Interesting project work.
Cons
Facilities need updating, not a place you would enjoy working extra hours. Growth and promotion of employees is not consistent. Development time continues to be reduced to hasten product release.
Advice to Senior Management
Appreciate your employees. We work hard and these days there is no recognition of our efforts.
Pros
Prestigious place to work. Believe in innovation and excellence and are supportive in these areas. Interesting industry. Smart people.
Cons
Unspoken company culture is strange. Respect hugely important and yet some execs in sales organization are abusive to employees. Lower than average salaries and poor raises. Poor communications between departments.
Advice to Senior Management
Put less emphasis on competition between divisions so that there is more information sharing. Remove abusive execs.
Pros
A few good products. Bonuses even though the company wasnt making any money. Good work life balance. Really nice corporate offices
Cons
Nepotisim runs wild. Middle management is ineffective and many have been there for a long time. Home entertainment products are overpriced and dont meet market needs.
Advice to Senior Management
Clean house. Identify the middle management folks who have been there 20+yrs and are the cause of the issues and not solution. Your layoff of 1000 people last yr didnt tartget the right people.
