Not a good company to work for unless you are part of the good old boy network

Engineering Manager (Former Employee)
Framingham, MA

I worked at Bose full-time for more than a year

ProsGood benefits and if you are an engineer, you get to work on some cool stuff. Nice facility and cafeteria. Co-workers are generally nice and look out for each other.

ConsMid-level management is pretty bad; very bulky and inefficient. Lots of red tape. Lots of time wasted spinning wheels. Takes a long time to get things done. Management culture is outdated.

Advice to Senior ManagementCut the red tapes and trim down those good old boy networks. The company can be a lot more profitable if managed better.

ConsNot much movement for promotions. Most employees stay for life so until they retire positions don't really open.

Advice to Senior ManagementOffer more career advancement opportunities for young employees.

I worked at Bose

ProsGreat company! A very unique company that plays for the long-run with strong principles and solid employee focus.

ConsA bit slow in decision-making and sometimes inward focused on new product development.

Advice to Senior ManagementNeed to focus on improving middle management leadership and drive more entrepreneurial empowerment (return to its early culture).
