I have been working at Bose

    Pros

Very fast-paced environment where your work is appreciated and colleagues are working together for the same purpose. Compensation is very fair and the company offers great benefits and discounts on all products year round.

    Cons

Departments sometimes stick too rigidly to processes.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Personal growth in the company was sightly lacking and i would like to see more attention paid to that area.

I worked at Bose as a contractor (less than a year)

    Pros

The products and proven to be best in market. Quality brand name. Long term potential.

    Cons

A few bad eggs ruin the experience. Had an absentee manager, with a poor attitude and smug communication style. Not typical for the culture, but there was a combination of team players and self interest types in my department.

    Pros

Privately owned company. Opportunities to advance your career. Tuition reimbursement.

    Cons

A traditional corporation. Slowly changing the way they launch and market products. Need to listen to consumers more, e.g. product and lifestyle interests.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue evolving the way we operate, e.g. develop and market our products in new and engaging ways. Otherwise we will lose market share. Relevancy is key to our succuss.

I worked at Bose full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Great hourly pay, lots of team work. Good for a college job.

    Cons

Why should I work my butt off, to become #1 in sales, but my commission is the same as the least performing person on the team?

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Start considering an individual commission pay plan, sales will rise a lot.

I have been working at Bose as a contractor

    Pros

Great coworkers, work with quality products, fully empowered to ensure customer satisfaction. Great opportunity to learn and develop soft skills and technical abilities.

    Cons

Work / life balance, pay(for temp), small chance of getting past temp level. It seems their business plan is designed to cycle temps without hiring. Very discouraging.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Find a way to hire more people!

I have been working at Bose full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

The core values are consistently referred to and everyone knows them. There is a lot of collaboration and team work building that is done. Online training is offered and always encouraged.

    Cons

There is a lack of responsibility when it comes to decision making. There is little room for growth unless someone leaves the company. Change is not embraced by many employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There should be more room for growth in positions and opportunities. There should be more incentives to enable people to make key decisions without being scathed if that decision goes awry.

I worked at Bose full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

    Good co-workers
    Decent discounts
Loaner programs to try out products
    Flexible hours
    Ok pay

    Cons

Laying people off 1 week before Xmas because they don't meet the unreasonable goals you set, and because your marketing team doesn't do their jobs
    PALs attitude
    Management
The UnreasonAble goals set that are impossible to achieve
Not placing sound touch ads in aarp magazines
    Sound Touch
Put buttons on equipment and let people adjust equalizer on machines

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you want people to sell sound touch then maybe place ads on these products instead of products that you do not really want to sale. iE you place wave music system 3 as well as acwms2 in aarp magazines. With no prices and no sound touch products. Do not lay off people 1 week before Xmas when the employees have gone above and beyond to help the company as well as being very flexible with all the hours, and most of all dog send out emails asking people if they want to stay on and then lay people off
