I worked at Bose full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

    - Well established and reputable company
    - A diverse and extensive company, financially secure
    - Some stores provide a good environment for their customers and employees
    - Responsibly conservative

    Cons

    - There is a significant disconnect at times between the stores and the corporate infrastructure which they rely on
    - Inconsistent values and philosophies regarding the employee and customer experience from store to store
    - Some stores will only honor warranty from items purchased within that specific store instead of from all Bose retail avenues and standing behind the company name
    - Still working to develop a consistent and sustainable retail model
    - Lack of transparency promotes a "political" culture where employees are apprehensive to come forward regarding concerns, questionable practices and insights
    - Detrimentally conservative

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Readjust the retail management culture so that it may be more reflective of its founders aims and more true to his ideals.

I worked at Bose full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

I enjoyed receiving some compensation for my sales expertise. I received an award in Phoenix, AZ on 5/13 in recognition of my accomplishments for the previous year.

    Cons

The hardest part of working for this specific store was the inadequate management and poor organization my managers seemed to lack.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The management team always needs to work the hardest of all the team members to ensure everyone is getting the job done. Being a good leader means you must display discipline and focus to set a good example for the team.

    I worked at Bose

    Pros

Well financed company with great products. There is a good work-life balance, rarely a call for more than 40 hrs.

    Cons

Many managers are oppressive and closed minded. They are decades behind other organizations in cost down focus and they need to catch up fast or they will not compete long term.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Look outside of the inbred culture of Bose. It isn't as great as you think. Salaries and benefits are not competitive and the work environment in some groups is suffocating.

    I worked at Bose full-time

    Pros

This quote from Dr Bose couldn't be more true. A good but different company to work for. For the most part employees are treated with respect. Much focus is placed on a teamwork approach to work. The brand is very well received. Pay is fair and the benefits above average.

    Cons

Like most companies, managers make or break the experience you have and the opportunity to do your best work everyday and grow inside the company. Bose has it's fair share of not great managers.

I have been working at Bose full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Excellent work atmosphere, positive culture and a sincere effort to help suceed.

    Cons

Extremely clique-based. Criticism is not well received and can be very dangerous if one makes even a comment which can be *seen* as disagreement, never mind actual critique.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Put money where your successes are. Listen more to the honest feedback of those closest to the ground. Bring them into your strategic alignment, and don't listen to the yes-men.

I have been working at Bose part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Down time, entertaining demos running on the systems while you work.... the biggest pro? that im leaving in the next month or so.

    Cons

Good luck achieving your bonuses or getting a decent raise. Terrible management stacks up and covers each others backs at the expense of the guys/gals actually making the sales. No real chance of promotion and terrible pay for the industry.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Put your money on the people that actually interact with your customers. Take a real look at your management and figure out a solution. The DM in the midwest isnt fit to work a gas station and embodies the intelligence of your average racist neanderthal.
