    Fiscal/Procurement Specialist

    Fiscal/Procurement Specialist (Current Employee)
    Boston, MA

ProsGreat place to work--offers excellent work/life balance and most employees seem happy and are typically great to work with. Also offers tuition remission for employees looking to take undergraduate or graduate classes.

ConsSalary is not very high, but on point with other higher education institutions. The environment, especially department vs. department can be a bit political in nature and the bureaucratic nature can slow things down a bit.

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

    Great relaxed place to work.

    IT Developer (Current Employee)
    Chestnut Hill, MA

ProsLaid back environment. Maybe too laid back

ConsPeople are not motivated. Older workforce means people are waiting for retirement. Don't expect people wanting to learn new things. New things/processes are disruptions

Advice to Senior ManagementListen to the innovators. Make change for the better of the University.

Pay seems low, but work-life balance and benefits are incredible.

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
    Chestnut Hill, MA

ProsUnlimited sick days, 4+ weeks paid vacation, free week off between Christmas and New Years, education benefit.

ConsSlow moving ship, hard to get promoted, very little merit based raises. Sometimes I feel surrounded by employees who are simply milking the benefits and have little interest in advancing their careers.

Advice to Senior ManagementInvest in young employees instead of losing them after they earn their graduate degrees for free.

Great place to work, excellent colleagues and environment, hierarchical & conservative approach to management

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
    Chestnut Hill, MA

Prosgreat atmosphere, friendly colleagues, generous retirement & time off benefits

Conspushing the envelope for innovative approaches to work is generally not supported. very hierarchical management structure with layers of bureaucracy and get int he way of accomplishing bigger and better things for the community...you can be treated as "new" till you have over of a decade of internal experience in the eyes of many.

    Great mission-driven place to work

    Resident Director (Former Employee)
    Boston, MA

ProsMission-driven. BC staff truly care about the students and want to contribute to their education with a holistic approach. Wonderful colleagues. Opportunities to get involved in projects outside your direct area, volunteer with international service trips, retreats, and other developmental opportunities.

ConsIt can be difficult to progress in your career since people tend to stay in their positions for a long time. To move up you generally need to leave to another university then maybe come back years later. Compensation is in line with non-profit/education sector.

Advice to Senior ManagementPromote more collaboration across departments, whether via committees or programs.
