Pros
Great training for a variety of jobs, good support
Cons
The usual with consulting - long hours and lots of travel
Pros
A truly great working environment. 95% of the people I get to work with on a daily basis (including my upper management) are enthused about the work they are doing.
Cons
Work / life balance is always a concern, but it is hard to call that a downside when you truly enjoy being in the office.
Advice to Senior Management
Honestly.. not much to complain about. It's a great place to work, and I have nothing but respect for my team leadership.
Pros
BCG partners with clients for meaningful impact on interesting business problems. Apprenticeship model places a lot of responsibilities on consultants from the outset.
Cons
Firm is growing quickly and expanding into areas outside of core strategy work.
Pros
Excellent colleagues - very bright people and very nice people
Tremendous brand value - people will respect you
Great learning experience - quick way to learn about key business issues
Cons
Life style can be crazy hectic
Nitpicking nature of reviews. They expect you to be perfect at everything, every time.
Promotions are hard, aggressive up or out culture
Advice to Senior Management
Start focusing on the strengths of your employees
Staff people based on need to improve and their interest and not purely based on business needs
Pros
You learn a lot of stuff (as at all other consulting companies)
You are well paid (as at all other consulting companies)
You get a chance to progress quickly (as at all other consulting companies)
AND: You work with plenty of really nice people -- not found at all consulting companies
Cons
High churn rate (as at all other consulting companies) puts pressure on the culture.
Not as well organized as McK.
Not as well connected in the industry as McK.
Advice to Senior Management
Continue the way you go. Overall you are doing very well.
Most valuable asset: Despite the high voltage of daily work, people at all levels are treated with respect.
Pros
Benefits - free healthcare
Great Retirement Plan
Cons
Work Life Balance can be difficult for some
Advice to Senior Management
Keep up the good work
Pros
Clear career path; smart people and good resources to complete your job. Teaches a number of very useful skills. Great training.
Cons
Poor selection of cases; some incompetent partners; boring cases sometimes that are more project management than strategy. Hours billed matters a lot.
Advice to Senior Management
Fire poor partners and don't take cases that don't add sufficient value to the client - it's demoralizing for the team.
Pros
Working for the Boston Consulting Group gives the opportunity to always face new challenges. People are smart and nice. It has a strong reputation within client companies. This is a place where people can develop themselves very rapidly.
Cons
Worklife balance is not always great : workload is not predicatble and consultants must demonstrate strong flexibility. Not always easy to chose one's staffing
Advice to Senior Management
Improve worklife balance. Improve communication between top management and consulting staff regarding group strategy
Pros
You can learn and share you knowledge with very talented people, this job makes you be more capable to face business challenges
Cons
The work-live balance is tight, you have to be fully committed, and be willing to work long hours, especially in Aisa.
