    Pros

There are many internal and external training's offered for personal advancement paid by the company. There are many company events that allow you to meet and greet everyone/network.You are also allowed jeans (business professional of course). Plenty of room for advancement. Alumni programs offered for past employees.Medical benefits paid 100%.

    Cons

There isn't a good work/life balance - you work many hours over your traditional forty.. Strict performance reviews - minimum four times a year.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If there is an issue with an employee's performance, it's best to bring it to their attention well in advance in order to correct their mistakes as opposed to allowing a problem(s) to grow/be repeated. Nip it in the bud a from start.

    Pros

    - High impact projects: in some cases, truly world-altering topics (more for public sector but true throughout)
    - Excellent compensation and perks
    - Outstanding colleagues; best and the brightest from all fields / backgrounds (think Rhodes scholars) create a really rich intellectual atmosphere

    Cons

    - Work-life balance can be challenging with the travel, as with all top firms, but leadership seems to truly care and is driving a number of initiatives to make things more manageable

    Pros

Rapid business education that forces you to be structured, rigorous, and nimble in thinking. Broad range of projects from consumer insight, healthcare, and even academic partnership.

    Cons

Very few role models at Partner level and above. Was repeatedly forced to choose between work and family - caused me much personal consternation with myself and decisions.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please reward and promote to Partner only those with true goodness and moral backbone. Many times I felt "exceptions" were made because an individual was able to bring in so much revenue but a blind eye was turned to serious character flaws.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Doing a great job of making sure BCG wins in the market and is able to provide opportunities for the employees. Very happy I am with BCG and not with McKinsey or Bain

Current Employee - Intern in New York, NY

I have been working at Boston Consulting Group as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

At my current position I have flexible hours and the time-off policies are very lenient. There are many promotion opportunities, whether you seek to grow in your current field or would like to start a new career path within the same organization.

    Cons

The standard is set very high.

Former Employee - Anonymous Employee in New York, NY

I worked at Boston Consulting Group full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

The exit options are fantastic, given you have a network of colleagues who exit into high-level positions, but since the company is small enough, there is still a culture where if you contact someone down the road they will always take your call

    Cons

The company knows that they have great exit options to business school and other companies, so you effectively get paid well below what you could command at another job in finance, or work harder than what you would get for equivalent pay in other corporate strategy roles

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Strong training, but need to consider more "career mentorship" for hires right out of college

    Pros

Amazing opportunities for development -- both formal training and on-the-job learning. BCG does an amazing job pushing you to learn new things and address your areas for development. The work environment is extremely collaborative and supportive, and the compensation is good.

    Cons

Travel can be grinding, and hours are often long. Interest level in cases varies depending on how you manage to be staffed.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make sure to keep a laser focus on creating development opportunities for employees -- that is a key value proposition for this job!
