I have been working at Boston full-time for more than a year

Excellent government benefits

Must be ready to work during city emergencies, including weather emergencies

I worked at Boston as a contractor for less than a year
Pros – Relaxed atmosphere, ability to work on projects independently, well paid. I really enjoyed learning the ins and outs of how Jobs and Community Services works, but the expectations of work were so low (and there was often no work to do) that I did not gain much from the experience.
Cons – Crazy boring. There was never much to do, and I spent a lot of time reading blogs on my computer.
Advice to Senior Management – Expect workers to do work. Do work yourself.
No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

I have been working at Boston part-time for more than 3 years
Pros – It's money and you get 50 percent discount on there products
Cons – The management sucks and the company is unorganized and you get back stab and put under the bus by your manager and associates and you can work so hard and make the store goal selling but your manager gets your commission check in there pocket so he is making money off your work and they never give you raises NEVER $8 for being there 3 years and being top seller they suck I'll pass!!!
Advice to Senior Management – Be more honest to your associates treat them better and be more organize don't blackmail and threaten there job if they can't stay till 2 am or later to do store displays and stuff and not be able to get home if they don't have cars stop all the spanish talking in front of there other associates who don't understand and stop drama and nonsense!!!

I have been working at Boston
Pros – The City of Boston is an excellent employer offering fair wages, reasonable work hours, excellent benefits, and the state pension program.
Cons – Difficult fiscal times have limited the City's ability to provide services at levels citizens expect. Pending layoffs, reduction in staff, and the limited budget have many worried.
Advice to Senior Management – The city has a large number of individual departments many of whom fight for limited funds leaving the departments less likely to work collaboratively.

I worked at Boston
Pros – I've always experienced direct communication with senior staff. A lot of my work was project based. Quantitative methods are expected with superlative presentation and reporting skills.
Cons – The only drawback I really felt was the large number of employees in the City, which unfortunately leads to some level of inefficiency. There are also concerns about pay cuts and freezes in these times.
Advice to Senior Management – Young talent is definitely up and coming with the City, and it shows with the attractive fellowships and programs offered for recent graduates. If this could be tailored to attract more students in career fairs, the program would flourish a lot more.
