Lots of little perks as pros - but a few big let-downs as cons

Consultant (Former Employee)
Arden Hills, MN

I worked at Boston Scientific as a contractor for less than a year

ProsAmple parking, car-pools with company vans, great cafeteria, bi-monthly employee appreciation lunches, on-site dry cleaning, great new-hire training, and the calm measured pace to work and processes, free beverages, and a better than average compensation as a local consultant.

ConsNone of my team leads NOR hiring manager is still around as references after three years, and my hiring manager mislead me about the contract project duration during the hiring process. I was told I had a six-twelve month PO(purchase order), but I could tell from the project scheduling once I started that I would only get three-four months on the PO.

Great learning and growth opportunities but terrible work-life balance

Business Analyst (Former Employee)

I worked at Boston Scientific full-time for more than 3 years

ProsI started at Boston Scientific after graduation in the IS Rotation program. In 2 years, I gained more experience than most people get in their entire career. I received numerous training and project management opportunities. I also had constant exposure to senior IT leadership via rotation program events.

ConsAlthough the experience and opportunities are great, work-life balance is terrible. There is an unspoken game of "who can stay at the office latest." Morale is low and employees are constantly being asked to take on more responsibilities as employees leave or are laid off.

Advice to Senior ManagementFocus on resource planning and employee morale. Look at how much an employee can actually produce and do not over allocate projects. This results in poor morale and results.
