Turning into a sweat shop. People are great but highly overworked.

    Specialist (Current Employee) Natick, MA

ProsThe people are very smart and great to work with. Everyone works hard and is focused on the company vision. Salary is OK but not great. Benefits are pretty standard. The new CEO is moving things in the right direction but sacrificing morale and culture to meet targets.

ConsLayoffs and acquisitions haven't helped the culture. Company culture remains an issue. Everyone is under resourced, working long hours, and getting burned out. There is no work life balance.

Advice to Senior ManagementStop cutting resources. Focus on sales growth.

Consulting working at BSCI for +2 years

SharePoint Consultant (Current Employee) Boca Raton, FL

ProsVery nice experience overall. They tend to be hands off once the trust is gained. The job was executed with minimum politics. good balance of high and low risk tasks to allow for a solid product development

ConsLike many large organizations decisions could be done a bit more promptly. The mix environment MS - SAP - Oracle will increase complexity.

Advice to Senior ManagementConsider to use cloud computing to gain more agility.

    Administrative Assistant

Executive Assistant (Former Employee) Fremont, CA

ProsThis company makes a device that potentially saves people's lives. I was excited to be part of such a wonderful company.

ConsBecause it affects people's lives, there are a lot paperwork and redtape, which can be frustrating when you as a worker can't move as fast as you think you should.

Advice to Senior ManagementThe current management at the San Jose site are very good, capable people and I have no other advice other than to continue communicating with employees.

If you need an entry level job, this is a good place to be.

Material Handler (Former Employee) Quincy, MA

ProsIt's a good pay. You get to learn new skills such as driving fork lifts and learn about distribution process.

ConsThe work load will not be consistent. There are easy days and there are busy weeks. If it gets busy, it is uneasy to bare.

Advice to Senior ManagementThere are people who do the job and there are people who lay back. So it is important to know who are the team players and give them more benefits.

    Smart Company Tough Times

Senior Product Manager (Current Employee) Saint Paul, MN

ProsVery smart people on the marketing team, focused on success and personal growth and development

ConsDifficult merger between Guidant and BSC left Guidant technologies at a disadvantage. BSC management does not know how to manage the Rhythm Business, but is determined to be in "the driver seat." Also, BSC lacks history of true high tech innovation, in which Guidant has been a leader.
