    Pros

Great people, meaningful work, a lot of different opportunities

    Cons

When teams shrink workload doesn't, and pressure to cut costs is ongoing

    Advice to Management

Don't jump immediately to offshore, take a real look at what key skills and capabilities need to be maintained internally

I worked at Boston Scientific full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Maple Grove location has a fitness center with free fitness classes, as well as fitness equipment.

    Cons

They don't pay all that well. You would be considered lucky to get a 3% raise and with that you have to be over expectations on all of your goals. The IS department leaves much to be desired. You have to call the Call Center, which is in India and there is a huge communication barrier with that.

    Advice to Management

Pay employees better and also invest in IS.

    Pros

People are extremely friendly and are always willing to help you. The company has a lot of potentials in the future as they're recovering from the expensive acquisition.

    Cons

Some employees might be a little bit lay back but it's a good thing if you want to retire with the company. Decision making takes a little bit longer as the same case in every large companies.

    Advice to Management

Try to improve efficiency of the organization. Have more focus on the future market dynamics to maintain its competitive advantage.

    Pros

I have worked at BSC for 12 years. As I continue my tenure at the company, it keeps getting better under the leadership of Mike Mahoney.

    Cons

In the past the executive management has not been as good as it is now.

    Advice to Management

    None.

    Pros

Good hours, okay wages, free food.

Technician level 3 named An Troung was the reason i quit working at boston. Worst technician there.

    Pros

Company is doing well and new CEO brings a great vision and drive.

    Cons

Finance Sr Management is short sighted and does not have any loyalty or commitment to development of lower management. They want more done with less resources. It is an overworked group that does not work well together. There is very little improvement done in this area or the processes across all of finance functions.

  11. It was okay

    Former Employee - Anonymous Employee
    Former Employee - Anonymous Employee

I worked at Boston Scientific full-time

    Pros

The company is a leader in medical devices and therefore you won't need to explain it too much when asked. The work can be interesting at times.

    Cons

Too many meetings. Too many layers of bureaucracy. Lots of politics and turf wars. Less emphasis on getting quality work done and more emphasis on marking projects complete to move onto others.

    Advice to Management

It used to be a better place to work. Never did recover from the ill-advised Guidant acquisition. Suggest they develop non-management career paths; not everyone in manufacturing, writing, stats, etc. has career aspirations for management.
