I have been working at Boston Scientific full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Great flexibility to work life balance (sometimes,) beautiful campuses, talented colleagues

    Cons

Overworked and no recognition, huge behavior in favoritism and promotions, not much support in HR and not encouraged enough by management to use resources.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If its not broken, don't try and fix it. Listen to your employees, especially if they know your job more than you.

Great place to work if you come in a recognizable position, unless otherwise upward mobility is very limited.

I have been working at Boston Scientific

    Pros

    Product, environment, people and stability.

    Cons

Lack of internal development of personal. Seems like most must leave and come back to get recognized or get promoted.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Outside of a few really good senior managers, does not seem like many want to develop internal candidates.

I worked at Boston Scientific full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Good machine work so most departments are not manual. Pay was good especially when you got overtime. Work was usually pretty consistent.

    Cons

Could not get a lot of days off. No room for growth. Managers expect a lot from you and when you meet high expectations there is very little recognition. You are a treated as a number and not a person at times. Some managers are very distant from their employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Let employees have an opportunity to move up in the company. Listen to the product builders suggestions they work with the product everyday they know it just better than most managers. Get issues or bugs fixed in the machine immediately. Communicate better what issues you have with employees one on one. Give good workers who have been there for a few years better than a 30 cent raise.

I worked at Boston Scientific full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Good company with a good mission.

    Cons

Awful, narrow minded senior management. Only care about cutting costs, don't care about employees or employee growth at all. Will erode vendor relations without blinking an eye as long as it saves money. Loyalty and quality means nothing to them.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Fix the office culture.

I worked at Boston Scientific as a contractor for more than a year

    Pros

Working on products that help improve the life of people.
    Campus like work environment.
Location is an easy commute from Ventura County,SF Valley and Pasadena

    Cons

Everyone on the interview team seamed compartmentized. Limited communication between hourly and salary employees. Didn't see ANYONE smiling INSIDE the building. ONLY person I noted that was cheerful was the Security Guard at the main entrance!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Seems like there is a type of FEAR of mangement. An US vs THEM culture. Need to open up channels of communication between the two groups and improve the work flow. It seemed that there was a disconnect between what the interview team was looking for and what the leadership team off site was asking for.

I have been working at Boston Scientific as an intern for more than a year

    Pros

Innovative R&D group willing to spend money on new ideas. Room to move up in the company. Lots of very long-term employees (10+ years).

    Cons

large company makes some processes take a long time. You can get stuck working with incompetent employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Compensation should be more performance-based rather than relying on set standards.
