I have been working at Boston Scientific full-time

    Pros

Exciting products and solid (growing) market mean that new projects and initiatives are easy to be found. Good relationships with team mates.

    Cons

Very little career growth or opportunities for upward mobility past a certain point. Loss of some critical talent to other companies.

I have been working at Boston Scientific full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

They have education reimbursement that you can take advantage to make your time there worth while. Only stay while you are learning.

    Cons

The company only looks out for bottom line and is always cutting corners to save a buck! There is much turnover because there is hardly any merit increases. Any company they purchase they will shut down within the year and do not retain any of the talent. No opportunity to advance or to grow your knowledge. No reward recognition unless you are at the very top level.

    Pros

    Good products, pleasant office environment

    Cons

Good old boys culture...limited career opportunities unless you are one of the few in the club, no meaningful or transparent succession planning. Poor management continues to keep stock price depressed for many many years. Morale is low, layoffs to squeeze more and more from existing employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Create transparency in hiring process and compensation to ensure there is no discrimination or preferential treatment. Figure out why the stock price continues to be low and fix it, this should be the #1 priority.

Unexciting, little diversity, slow process. Not valued as an intern.

I worked at Boston Scientific as an intern for less than a year

    Pros

Work on some grat produccts. Great training, including hospital visits to see products' work first-hand.

    Cons

Did not feel very welcome by many; somewhat ignored. Technicians were very friendly and helpful, but as the only woman in the department, under 21 at the time, and not white, I felt excluded. My manager was also gone at the start and at the end of my internship, leaving me hanging with very little to do and minimal direction. Also, there was SO much time spent on training, which was wasted given that I was only there for a 2.5 month internship.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Have a plan for an intern, if you are going to hire one!

I have been working at Boston Scientific full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Most of the people here are good people looking to do good things. Overall it's a respectful environment. Also, the company offers some good benefits such as a matching 401K, life insurance, onsite gym and cafeteria.

    Cons

Life at BSC is very hierarchical and revolves around pay grade, job title, and do you get an office or a cube; this goes on to dictate what duties you can perform and not perform and what meetings you can attend and not attend. This would be frustrating in its own right but to add to the frustration hierarchical rules (written and unwritten) are not enforced with any uniformity.

Additionally, very little opportunity for career advancement and management often attempts to pacify employees with lateral moves with the justification it is broadening your skillset.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Create transparent career tracks; reduce hierarchical red tape.

Some of the nicest people I've ever worked with or for. Never worked for a company where senior leadership was so down to earth.

    Pros

Lots of indepedance to work on your own projects

    Cons

You are not given much direction by upper management. Too much focus on cost cutting and not enough of developing new technologies or markets.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try to align the company objectives to employee responsibilities.
