I have been working at Botsford Hospital part-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

It's a teaching hospital so you can have little to no experience, but you will be trained to perform you job at the highest standards. It's a small hospital so everyone is like family. Majority of the managers are flexible with school schedules as well. Good benefits.

    Cons

Raises are usually 1-3% of current pay. Not sure how the merger with Beaumont and Oakwood are going to play out and how it will effect everyone.

I have been working at Botsford Hospital part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Can be a pleasant place to work, especially when you are surrounded by positive staff members.

    Cons

I can only speak for the floor I currently work on, but sometimes we are short nurses and nurse assistants. This can be a major issue and can pose a risk to patients when the nurse to patient ratio is dangerously imbalanced.

I have been working at Botsford Hospital full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

coworkers were like family (I worked >10yrs) because the hospital is so small--I've worked at big hospitals like Beaumont/HFH/DMC and haven't encountered this type of teamwork; pay is excellent,($160K base), plenty of hours and OT, PTO is great (start 6/q 2 wks after 5 yrs=9/q 2wks), 3 days education and $2000 tuition reimbursement

    Cons

if I could get a job, I would leave tomorrow.... the environment is toxic and negative. Although I love the people i work with, they gossip (the downfalls of "family') and the surgeons are very, very unprofessional--yelling, throwing instruments, consistently late for the 1st case of the day--and they are molly-coddled because they are the income-generators for the hospital. The anesthesiologists I work under are the worst group I have ever encountered--"you can't give versed" "you can't give dilaudid"--very controlling of a CRNAs practice. No epidurals, spinals, ALs or starting a general without them available. 4:1 supervision. Management consistently sides with the physicians (despite complaints to HR).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

stop the physicians from bullying the employees--even though they are the income-generators, that behavior should not be tolerated--it is demoralizing to the entire team. This hospital is likely to be bought by a larger system soon, and this may be a moot point..... Management will be entirely changed.....

I worked at Botsford Hospital part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Co-workers are friendly and the job is rewarding. There is always something to do and the job is never boring.

    Cons

Didn't get nearly as many hours as I would have hoped for. Management is non-existent. Employees run the department for the most part.
