I worked at Bottom Dollar Food

    Pros

New company, changes and upgrades happened weekly. Able to use skills in all departments. District managers were top notch. Training was available to those wanting to move up to management positions. Great training and trainers.

    Cons

Visits from corporate happened so much that you never felt like you were able to run your business just for the customer. Having to please the big bosses. Too many higher ups coming up from NC with different directions from each of them.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

All upper levels need to have the same vision when it hits store level. We felt like we had to present differently dependent on who was visiting.

I worked at Bottom Dollar Food

    Pros

They pay was OKay but not great. I really loved the associates I worked with.

    Cons

The upper leadership would not listen to associates in management. We took a survey that addressed this and a year later still not addressed.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to all the associates. Don't just pick and chose the ones that support what you want. Take out the good old boy thinking.

I worked at Bottom Dollar Food part-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Their lighthearted attitude, color scheme of the store set us apart from the competitors and the people I worked with gave off a work family feel.

    Cons

The training program was terrible. It consisted of one or two days of training with someone and then thrown in. This caused stress on the rest of the staff making the day less productive. Some procedures that upper management asked us to do didn't make sense and when asked to clarify they gave off a "because I said so" attitude. Bottom Dollar's true colors came out in the final months of the company closing. They made the presence of support known but displayed no real significant action. We had HR managers walk around the store asking us how we were and thanking us for our services but never really gave us concrete information on when our last day was going to be received, when we should expect to receive our severance or even when the official date of closure was.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Doesn't really matter because the company is closed.
