    VP Development

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Portsmouth, NH

ProsNone what so ever! Oh Yes, if you can say "Yes Sir!" you will be a star.

ConsNo Vision or Goals. Very tactical no strategy. Treat workforce like an accordion. The CEO behavior is deplorable.

Advice to Senior ManagementUnderstand software development 101 or remove the name "Technologies" from the name.

As short sighted as they come...

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsI cannot think of any upside to working at Bottomline other than the potential to fade into the mix so much that you can pretty much just exist and take home your salary in many cases...mainly in Senior and Exec Management.

ConsInnovation (product or market) is NOT a strength, even though it's often talked about.
Strategic thinking is NOT something that is practised.
Enabling employees to be successful is NOT a focus, not matter what field or geography.
    Micro management is rife.
Absolutely no appetite to stay the course to achieve success in new or emerging markets.
BT is STRICTLY, almost cripplingly so, a 90 day revenue focussed business and it doesn't care how or where it comes from.

Advice to Senior ManagementTake a look outside the 4 walls and see how the REAL world, along with your competitors, is evolving.
The business world is passing you by because you arrogantly refuse to keep up.

Worst company that I've ever worked for!

Software Engineer (Former Employee) Portsmouth, NH

    ProsGreat location, co-workers are great!

ConsCulture is purely toxic. Non revenue generating departments such as human resources have way too much influence on the "producers." Too many VP's and not strong enough middle management. Part of that issue is because no one is empowered at BT. The dysfunction here will eventually bring the company crashing down.

Advice to Senior ManagementCommunication must be improved. Since they are organized by product lines and verticals, communication between the silos is non-existent and very frustrating. You might also want to reduce the power in those non-revenue generating departments STAT. To have a VP in software development report to a VP in HR is ludicrous.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Worst Company to Work for in NH NOT the Best

    Director (Former Employee) Portsmouth, NH

    ProsGreat location in Portsmouth, NH.
    Seacoast location is excellent
The health, dental and vision benefits are very good compared to other companies

ConsThe organization is like a dysfunctional family that has no direction and employees treat each other with disrespect and rudeness. The company value of working with and for each other is a joke.

The CEO is nick named the "weathervane" because he changes direction so frequently that nothing gets done.

They have a hard time keeping good professional employees due to number of unprofessional employees. The company tolerates the most unprofessional behavior because it starts at the TOP. It is notuncommon to hear yelling, see inappropriate and threatening emails (from management).

I would NOT recommend this company to my worst enemy.

    Dis-functional

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Portsmouth, NH

    ProsBenefits are better than average.
    Location, Location,Location

ConsManagement is disconnected from the employees. Very hostile environment to work in.

Advice to Senior ManagementMorale is at an all time low, listen to your employees. Stop asking employees to post positive comments on Glassdoor.

    Don't work here

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsCo-workers were great to work with.

    ConsTechnology is outdated and overweight
    Unrealistic deadlines
Company makes up for cost of doing business with low pay and demands to work many extra hours every week

Advice to Senior ManagementInvest in building a great product to sell instead of selling unattainable solutions - you're constantly playing a game of catch-up and eventually you WILL fall behind. The pace that's being set is unmaintainable.

Disregard for employee success; knee jerk management actions.

    Account Executive (Current Employee)

Pros- good product portfolio, although trailing competitors in some aspects
    - excellent technical support; very responsive to customers
    - good benefits

Cons- short-term view of employees - "what have you done for me lately" attitude
    - poor training program for new employees - more like baptism by fire
    - management did not support employees
    - management would talk about employees behind their backs
    - employees viewed as expendable

Advice to Senior ManagementInvest in employees training and growth. Find ways to support them instead of undercutting them. Decide on a strategy and stick with it. Changing strategies and laying employees off every 6 months is no way to be a successful company over the long term.

Stay away from this place if you want a life and reapect

Software Engineer (Current Employee) Portsmouth, NH

Proshealth insurance ok - nice grounds

ConsTotal lack of respect for person. Working weekends expected, else job in jeopardy. No feedback about performance, even when requested.

One of the worst places to work in the area

Computer Person (Current Employee) Portsmouth, NH

    ProsBenefits
    Nice work area
    In tax free New Hampshire

Cons•Company is run like lots of small companies with head of Line of Business making all decisions
    • People and leadership at one Line of Business has no idea what the other Line of Business does, except at the very top
    •Management micromanages people
•I was dept head and no idea what my budget was, even when I asked about it
    • Does not have the right infrastructure and processes (HR, IT, Accounting) in place for company size.
    • High employee turnover. Would rather fire people and hire new ones, than proved mentoring and employment development.
•The compensation is highly based on stock options and grants. Management’s compensation is based on running up stock and then selling it.

Advice to Senior ManagementHire professionals to solidify company processes.
    Recognize that you’re a $150M company, not a $15M company.

Great start, but glad to be out

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee) Reading, England (UK)

Prospizza friday's and 'party in the carpark'
    Good banter and people

Cons- Management and Execs don't know their own solutions, value prop or the market
    - They don't invest money in their existing solutions and find out what their customers want
    - They take advantage of people who care a lot and work long hours for little pay
    - Sales people are paid too much for doing far too little
    - Far too money orientated - quantity over quality
    - Personal development plans are ticks in boxes - no feedback is ever taken on board let alone any changes are made

Advice to Senior ManagementI would get replace near enough all of them as they are far too comfy and don't innovate - they are loosing big customers due to their lack of vision and innovation.
