Great Co-workers, but changing systems, and systems that didn't work as required made day to day tasks very challenging.

I worked at Bound Tree Medical full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    Wonderful co-workers. Good benefits.

    Cons

Rapidly changing reporting methods and requirements, with TOP management making decisions regarding issues that they not only did not understand, but also were unconcerned about learning made for very difficult days, all while raises were miniscule, and work-life balance was not taken into consideration for most departments.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

UPPER management should take the time to receive input from lower level managers, and mid-level managers should COMMUNICATE better with their employees. Too many times decisions were made at the mid-level management level without any follow through, or notification to their employees. This causes a lack of confidence with both customers and suppliers when their direct contact doesn't have the information required.

    Pros

The people (worker bees) are great. Upper management has. NO clue about how to run a business. They treat people poorly and wonder why they leave.

    Cons

They often change the rules of the game during the game. ie not doing a presidents award trip because too many people qualified. Change pay plans half way into the year making it impossible to make more even if you sell more.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Leave. Need new or old management. Prestel is a joke

Good company, but management of Purchasing Dept is not professional

    Pros

The sales force across the US is very knowledgeable and knows what their customers want and can afford. Customer Service is staffed with many experienced professionals. Inside Sales is great to work with and product information from the product specialist is very reliable.

    Cons

Many management changes cause confusion regarding the direction and measurements of department goals. Purchasing Director is problematic with lack of consistency in processes, objectives, measurements and prone to favor hiring at lower salary range with little experience.

    Pros

There are a variety of shifts you can work as a CSR. The vacation and benefits package is competitive, and your starting salary is relatively high if you are an entry-level candidate.

    Cons

The company is so busy buying and merging that it doesn't focus on salary, bonuses, or incentives. There was no performance-based motivator in place for CS, which is unusual for a company when compared with the industry and the potential for growth.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give your CSRs a light at the end of the tunnel. Give people incentives to succeed.

I have been working at Bound Tree Medical

    Pros

Nearly all of the sales team and customer service team are genuine and great people to work with. The company is a perfect case study for a business class about what not to do, however. If you enjoy working for a company where management doesn't return calls, disrespects the employees and disregards constructive ideas - this is the place for you!

    Cons

This company was once a true "Family" culture, where people were very proud to work, until it was sold to Water Street Investments (Sarnova). The new senior management really fowled things up. The new culture is paranoia and conniving greed. The ability to serve the customer has faded because insecure middle and senior management has micromanaged power away from the customer's contact with the company; sales reps and customer service reps. Bound Tree was once the pinnacle of places to work in the pre-hospital medical supply market. Today, nearly everyone is looking for another job (economy allowing), and the people getting hired couldn't get a job elsewhere. They are continually restructuring the compensation schedule for our sales team. Many of their once loyal customers are also steadily realizing they can get better pricing and service from other companies.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Read a few management books and give up on the cancerous culture.

    Pros

The customer service department people were great to work with.

    Cons

Management was often clueless about the job as they had never done the job themselves.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take a few days and do the job before making changes that are neigh impossible to perform. Check out your leadership choices and make sure they are actually doing their job and not passing off everything to an associate then taking credit for it!
