I worked at Boy Scouts of America full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

A non-profit organization that focuses on helping people grow professionally. They invest much in the professional growth of their employees by offering superior training and professional development as well as offering great benefits and incentives. Such an awesome organization to work for and I regret leaving.

    Cons

It can be a super demanding and many times overwhelming. If you are ready to be married to your job then perfect fit, if you want a work/life balance this may not be the job for you. If you are a high achiever and like the constant challenge and demand meeting deadlines and goals then this might be a place to be.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Incentives and benefits are the way to boost moral.

I have been working at Boy Scouts of America part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

    Flexible scheduling
Decent pay (minimum wage for starting out, but a raise every year after review)

    Cons

Retail environment, some customers are less than happy due to BSA policy
Upper management does not seem to have very good grasp on how stores operate, merchandise purchasing and stock leaves a lot to be desired

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Poll stores before purchasing new merchandise, particularly t-shirts and useless camping gear

I worked at Boy Scouts of America as a contractor (more than 5 years)

    Pros

They have an interesting program, but it needs to be update dated and made into the 21st Century learner model.

    Cons

The North Carolina branch was not able to assist scouts with Autism, but the website said that they support children with disabilities. :-(

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please update the programs, because they not changed in forty years.

I worked at Boy Scouts of America full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

A satisfaction of accomplishments.in knowing the character building is working.

    Cons

Interferes with family life. Especially in ones church times. There are some in the organization that cut corners or pad their accomplishments to attain recognition and awards at the expense of the boys and the volunteers. I do not approve of the direction BSA is going relative effeminate ways.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Do more to know the executive before and AFTER they are in the organization. Especially in the core values.
