I have been working at Boyd Gaming full-time for less than a year
Pros – Promotes from within and the ability to apply for open positions outside of your job classification is available after 90 days. Shows employee appreciation/recognition often.
Cons – Not all and maybe not many but some Managers fail to maintain a fair, firm and consistent style of people management and fail to live up to the overall expectations of "Boyd Style" service and integrity.
Advice to Senior Management – Promoting health and wellness is important, but it would benefit the company and its employees if access to some facilities were discretely permissible (such as the pool, gym/health center). Perhaps create smaller facilities for employees.
Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

I have been working at Boyd Gaming full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – The company encourages a positive work life balance and there is always potential for upward mobility. My department has several professional members.
Cons – The management team can be difficult to work with and is not progressive in the industry. The salary scale is not comparable to other companies in the Las Vegas valley.

I have been working at Boyd Gaming part-time for less than a year
Pros – Ability to move to different department in corporation, with free training provided. Free drinks and some food at employees lounge. Good benefit package.A friendly co-worker atmosphere; Top management to bottom workers have to have a small town greeting mentality towards one another. A good thing !
Cons – Some salaries are low to make a living with. Maintaining a 40 hour week schedule, by company, sometime not meet. Promises of being able to move to a different, out of state ,Boyd Corporation sometimes is not meet.; Even after emphasizing it in original orientation week. Also some negative people that should not be working , here or most places, to be honest . Very strict with dress code. Sometimes a good thing! But if you look at any company is not so bad.
Advice to Senior Management – Get rid of the negative workers. An employee appreciation week. Only for good employee's. More perk's like a monthly drawing, for a free stay at hotel suite, for employee and family. (only good employees should qualify). One last thing to Boyd Corp, Keep your promises, you mentioned in your orientation or don't even mention them.

I worked at Boyd Gaming full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – Best co-workers I have ever had the chance to work with.
Cons – The pay they are willing to offer current and new prospects are minimal at its best and do not compete with other companies in the same industry. I have several degrees and certifications under my belt actually related to the field I was working in and still was offered less than $40k. That's a $15,000-$20,000 differential from the average pay at other companies. Job titles are a suggestion, not really pertaining to what you do, which is everything they ask you to do. Raises are a joke, benefits or bonuses are non-existent, and the quality of life is abysmal considering the amount of time and effort that you put in. Short-staffed, more work, less pay. That's what you get when you work here and that is the "Boyd Style".
Advice to Senior Management – There are too many bodies in upper management. Re-evaluate the priorities a little. We all understand that the bottom line is to make money but try to think about those who are trying to help you achieve that goal and keep the business going. No one is really happy here, but you wouldn't know that because there is very little interaction and communication. How about bringing the brand to a more upscale level and delivering better quality products. The Echelon would've been a good starting point, oh well. Also, the company should start supporting the LGBT community! Even the competitors: Caesars Entertainment, MGM Resorts, and Wynn Resorts are in with the program.

I worked at Boyd Gaming full-time for more than 8 years
Pros – Good Employees many of them over 15 yrs of employment.
Cons – Rapidly increase in lack of personal respect for their employees
Advice to Senior Management – Practice what they preach to their employees - quit trying to find ways to cut wages and benefits. Appears the bottom line is all important as upper mangement will sacrifice all values to increase the "golden" bottom line. Senseless mandatory repetitive training programs that take you away from your primary job which is already short handed due to personnel cuts,

I worked at Boyd Gaming full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – Good training program for the Surveillance Department. No physical labor or stress. You get to learn the whole casino business.
Cons – Very little room for advancement in Surveillance and you have to have approval from the Surveillance Manager and the property GM to transfer to another department. They keep dropping the benefits as well, specifically the 401K matching. You will work on holidays.

I worked at Boyd Gaming part-time for more than a year
Pros – The Orleans had many good people and a good environment to come to work to everyday. Everyone on the floor seems genuinely happy to be employed by Boyd gaming.
Cons – Very difficult to get requested time off.
Advice to Senior Management – More visibility of management. It's very difficult to understand who's boss was who.
