I worked at Boyd Gaming full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The job paid well, the people were friendly, free meal, and not to hard work making the job very easy to handle.

    Cons

When breakfest and dinner rushes hit it would get so packed that we were constantly running around to make sure that the cooks had everything they needed.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the good work

I have been working at Boyd Gaming full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Boyd is a family-run and family-oriented company. They believe strongly in promoting from within and helping their Team Members grow.

    Cons

Not the most competitive in the salary/wage department, however the positive environment makes up for it. Some departments could work on holding their Team Members responsible for their actions and work on communication/consistency.

    Advice to Management

Keep making your Team Members feel appreciated and important.

    Pros

Well organized corporation as it is 30+ years old. Good atmosphere, well kept facilities, lots of internal and external transfer opportunity. Lots of potential benefits and employee discounts with major retailers.

    Cons

Low salaries, unable to afford the benefits they offer. Excessive turnover. Strict rules.

    Advice to Management

Find a way to increase pay, to reduce excessive turnover.

    Pros

being a new employee, having most people be willing to help and assist me is quite a wonderful thing. it makes my learning the task at hand a much easier process.

    Cons

So far, the only downside is coming from my end and that is only because due to being scheduled for swing shifts, I have a hard time spending time with my youngest son. I can only hope to be scheduled more during the day shift.......maybe in the future :-)

    Advice to Management

none at the moment, so far, things are quite ideal and can only hope that I will be considered for a full time/ dayshift position in the nearest future......

I worked at Boyd Gaming part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great paycheck good customers. That's about all they offer. Would never work for them again

    Cons

Bad hours. Drama filled work place, no holiday pay, if you call in you get pointed and they use your pto/ vacation bank. Work all holidays no holiday pay, no fault policy. They don't care if you broke your foot if you are late or call in for any reason you get pointed. Doctors notes not accepted. Rate approvals for any time off. You have to have a pto balance in order to get approved for vacation. They are horrible when it comes to communication and policies... Change from person to person. No paid training compared to Oklahoma casinos who offered paid training. Base pay is waitress wages. Other places I've worked you get min wage plus tips. Also free health care. Boyd gaming is not a good company!!!

I have been working at Boyd Gaming full-time

    Pros

Great opportunities for career growth through transferring among properties and departments; decent benefits; senior management is experienced and well-liked; great Company vision and values.

    Cons

Inter-departmental communication is not as frequent as it should be; in my experience, my salary is lower than industry standard

    Advice to Management

Make senior management more visible and accessible to line-level people to humanize.
