I have been working at Boys & Girls Clubs part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    Get paid to play
    The children can be fun
    great co workers
you get to go on trips with the children
    Free shirts, and hats

    Cons

The children can be mean and rude at times. Their is almost no chance of pay raises, neither is their any chance to get decent raises or make more than $50,000. When it comes down to it. Its a dead end job.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Pay them more.

I worked at Boys & Girls Clubs full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Very rewarding, weekends off, get the chance to build great relationships with children and staff

    Cons

Upper management out of touch with the kids and needs of the staff. Organization is financially insecure, expected to meet goals and expectation with little to no budget. Upper management plays favorites. The CEO is super shady and runs the organization like a "Boys Club." For an organization that could do so much good, they fall short due to red tape, politics and a lack of priorities.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Open your eyes, and allow staff to voice opinions without fear of reprocussions. Evaluate the reasons for the reprehensible turn over rate. Realize that without the staff that do the daily work, you would not have an organization to run into the ground.

I have been working at Boys & Girls Clubs

    Pros

they work around your schedule. You get most days off the school gets. they have meetings where you get free pizza, deserts, soda, bottled water, and praised

    Cons

some kids will talk major trash to you, some will directly challenge you, some will hit you. no real pay raises

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

why do you pay the employees to come in and sit down for 45 minits and basically due nothing half the time before the kids come when you can just cut 40 minits out and contribute to higher pay raise

    Recommends
