Pros
If you like kids and like having potential fun this is the place for you. Pay is hourly and lunch is paid but you have to work though it.
Cons
Kids can be crazy someday and its stressful knowing management and parents expect you to be a dang champ at micromanaging 50-60 kids at a time.
Advice to Senior Management
I honestly have nothing for you guys. great job and great service
Pros
Work with some very sweet kids
Able to teach the kids important life lessons
Help the kids with areas they struggle with in their personal lives
Cons
Management was disorganized
No solid directions on what volunteers were to do
Volunteers often go unnoticed
Advice to Senior Management
Improve communication with volunteers. Make our job duties more clear.
Pros
Some good benefits, friendships within staff, satisfaction with mission
Cons
Upper management, communication, lack of respect for employees from upper management
Pros
You get to work with underprivileged children and feel like you are making a difference.
You can move from part-time to full time if you make an effort and express interest;
Cons
Very low pay (it is a non-profit company).
Very hard to get time off (no paid vacation for first year).
Advice to Senior Management
Pay a little more and invest in part time staff in order to retain staff and eliminate quick turnover. Hire more staff to work full time.
Pros
Good people, and you are doing a job that gives your plenty of satisfaciton becasue it is a non-profit organization
Cons
the bad part is that it is a non-prpfit organization so there is not alot of room for fast achievements and high rewards are few
Advice to Senior Management
i think that they are doing a good job and will continue to do so as long as the public recognizes the poetical and need for these clubs
Pros
Working with children is very rewarding
Cons
Minimal hours because of school scheduling
Pros
you are able to be around kids and watch them grow into something better every year and the managers are very nice when you need help with a problem
Cons
there are a lot of kids to deal with and sometimes with the way things are run it can be out of controll
Advice to Senior Management
with the way it works for kids that go there, it can be hard to get field trips for the clubs to go to places like the museums
Pros
Good charity to work for and support financially.
Cons
Compensation varies greatly throughout each organization.
Advice to Senior Management
None
Pros
Working with different ages of children is what we do. To think that you could effect not only their day but, their future in how they feel about themselves is a great responsibility. The teaching of coping and social skills is such a high need for today's children especially since so many live in two income families who have a limited amount of time with their children. What we can do is so much more than "after school care" if the program is ran effectively.
Cons
low quality employees teaching high self esteem
Advice to Senior Management
Expect quality work from your employees. They should be smiling and nice at the least. Your requested standard along with training would greatly improve the program that is so very important to today's youth. More pride in what you do felt by all level of employees.
Pros
Able to make a positive impact on youth.
Clubhouse staff work together as a team.
Fun activities and special events.
Opportunity to be creative in planning programs for kids.
Cons
Questionable decision making from senior management.
Long hours with inadequate staff support.
Management shows favoritism.
Wasteful spending.
Limited room for growth.
Advice to Senior Management
The senior management of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Las Vegas would benefit from creating a more positive work environment for middle managers who are responsible for each facility. Providing them with adequate staff in order to provide a full schedule of youth development programs for each club.
