I have been working at Brady full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Excellent training, everyone very helpful, can have a personal life. Very friendly atmosphere with people willing to help you do your job well.

    Cons

There are no cons as far as I am concerned. One of the best companies I have ever worked for in my life.

I worked at Brady full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

The manufacturing facility in Milwaukee is clean.

    Cons

Used to have talented people but they've treated people so poorly since the recession most of them are gone. Average in the talent pool, many Execs have left (CTO, CEO) and Tom Felmer has absolutely no ability to see the value in his people. He's as cut throat as they come. Claims he values talent and people development but behind closed doors it's a different story. He wants nothing to do with people unless they can help make the company money. Brady lacks innovation and has not been able to grow in several years so why now? They used to have a strong culture but that was destroyed during the recession when they slashed so many jobs and did it with absolutely no regard to the people.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give up! Other companies have been and continue to poach your top talent.

I have been working at Brady full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Terrific people, approachable executives, career growth and learnings. Opportunity for international work and working across functions, learning about business principles you'd normally never have exposure to in many offices (lean, 8 step problem solving). Compassionate leadership who want to know employees.

    Cons

Sometimes slower to evolve practices, traditional benefits package. Could stand to be more innovative with their approach to business and employees and take more risk.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consistent leadership has advantages and the longer term tenure of senior management can be a plus if their education continues to stay fresh with how business is changing.

I have been working at Brady full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

You’ll notice a recurring theme in the “Pros” section of reviews about Brady--the people are great. A significant amount of time is spent creating a family-like culture throughout the organization, and it shows. Aside from the great culture, the company has a fierce desire to grow.

    Cons

Participating in an increasingly commoditized market is nothing short of difficult, and this often withers the creative team down to its core. In my opinion, the only chain holding Brady back from continued success is that of being Risk Averse. Fear not, Brady is merely one spontaneous wager away from the next wave of innovation.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Now that F. Jaehnert has stepped down as CEO, don’t be afraid to jump into the darkness with both feet--it’s what you need to accelerate into the future.

Brady is way too LEAN for its own good. Management doesn't abide by the values expected of the rest of the company.

I worked at Brady full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Decent benefits package. Able to purchase up to 5 additional vacation days per year. Most of the employees are genuinely good people.

    Cons

There is growth potential in certain markets, but management is so greedy with LEAN practices that they won't invest in the resources necessary to grow these markets. Management preaches to their employees about "winning the right way", but the company can't seem to follow this advice itself. The company keeps downsizing and restructuring its North American team even though sales keep growing in that region. Employees who get paid hourly are not allowed overtime even when overtime is a must in order to meet the Day's demands. In order to keep sane, it is an absolute must to purchase the 5 additional vacation days per year (just try not to use them to catch up on work).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The recession is over, step outside your comfort zone and take a risk here and there. The company can afford it and your hard working employees definitely deserve the advancement opportunities that would come from it. You've lost so many talented people in the last few years that it's reflecting in your product and your services. Your workers are getting more poor every year due to the fact that their raises don't come anywhere near the yearly cost-of-living increase. I have friends who still work there, please invest in your people and reward them for their hard work in F'14.

I worked at Brady full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

I had flexible hours, Above average vacation time. It had a relaxed casual environment.

    Cons

Management. They are to slow to make decisions or allow employees that do the day to day work flexibility to make decisions. Management does not deal with bad employees quickly which caused tension and lowered morale in the department.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Trust employees and micromanage less.

I worked at Brady full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    People are nice. Free coffee.

    Cons

Managers were promoted on a "people I like basis". Most "Engineers" do not even have a degree in Engineering. Ridiculous.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You constantly have "employee surveys". Employees are pissed off at low pay and mid level management, and then you still promote them or keep them because they rate each other. They write their own report cards! No wonder so many people are looking for other jobs.
